That is very strange that it was 2.3 cm and they canceled the cycle. I doubt you had thin lining or they would not be increasing your clomid dose.
I would ask them exactly why they canceled the cycle and what they are looking for in order to go forward with iui. If it were me I would not start another cycle with their clinic until I was satisfied with their answer. It is a lot to go through physically and emotionally to have them cancel without really explaining why.
The only thing I can think of is iui does cost money and maybe they did not want you to have the expense if they considered 1 follicle to be low chance for conceiving. I learned that my clinic was making some decisions about my treatment due to cost concerns even though they never asked me if money was an issue. If $$ is not an issue for you then you might need to make that clear to them. Best of luck to you.
Thank you everyone for you responses. It was 2.3 cm so yes that was why I was so confused. They NEVER told me I was not producing eggs. When I do the progesterone blood work it is good. Dr wants me to try another cycle and increase the clomid from 50 to 100mg...Im really worried about this. I get really bad hot flashes as is from the 50mg. We want a baby sooooo much and after 3 mc Im really feeling discouraged :(
I agree with BeeHappy. If it was 2.3 cm, it was a good, mature size and should have been perfect for an IUI. Most people get pregnant with only one mature follicle, since they're generally not on fertility meds, so one is definitely enough...unless it is on a side with a blocked tube or something like that.
Was it 2.3 cm or mm? If mm then they were too small (not mature as happynfer said). If cm then they should have been the right size. I have heard of people getting pg with just one mature follicle, so not sure why they would cancel saying it is too few. Was your lining thick enough? I had 2 cycles canceled because my lining was too thin.
if you have no mature follicles then you are not going to produce any eggs.
if you have no eggs, there is nothing for the sperm to fertilize, and therefore the cycle is cancelled.
they also cancel IUI procedures if you make too MANY follicles, because the risk of higher order multiples (triplets and up) increase dramatically.
