Ivf age 46

Hi all, been reading some posts, and seem interesting. My wife just had 2 embryos transferred 6th august 2011, . My question what is the ideal cell count and what is classed as a good grade embryo?  I'm doing all the worrying for the wife lol,  if some one could let me know the answers. Thank you.

Congrats on your transfer! : )  It's really nice of you to be doing all the leg work : )  It looks like you used donor eggs correct?  The cell count would be based on the day transfer you did. a 3 day or a 5 day.

As for the grade, every clinic does it different.  Do you know what your grade was?  What did they RE say when they transferred?

Sending you and your wife a truck load of baby dust!!!!  When is her blooddraw??

Here is a good link that I found very informative as I was trying to figure all of this stuff out. It is from the Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago. I found that they had one of the most thorough websites about many issues related to IVF. My understanding is that while some grading systems differ among clinics, it's generally accepted that an AA grade is the highest grade you can achieve. This link will likely answer some of your other questions as well. And congrats on your transfer! Very sweet of you to look into this for your wife...

Hi.

Thanks for your replies,  I asked the clinic the same questions. The embers transferred were 3 days, and the clinic says they do not grade embyros  which are 3 days. The embyros had cells which were 8 cell.

We are on a day 7 of the of the 2 week wait and we have to test on 18/08.

She has been feeling like she has the flu, slight head aches, and bloated, also her breasts are sore.  I am doing all the research and trying not to let her think about things too much,   4 more days to go..

The wife does not use the Internet, and to be honest there are so many conflicting stories, but thanks for your kind wishes.

Only a few more days till her beta!!! : )  Yes, many ladies have tons of symptoms and many ladies do not.  Unfortunately, the only "for sure" answer is a HPT (still a little early for that though) and the beta.  You are so kind for doing all of this research for her!!  I sure hope you get your postive pregnancy test!!!

Hi thanks for your reply. We are now on day 11 post et. We were told by the clinic that we can test on 18/08. So 2 days left. I have read else where people test on day 10,  she is getting excited and suggested we take the test today. Not sure. The suspense is killing her. Lol.

I can wait to know. But we should hold off for another 2 days.

Since day 8 till now she has not had any symptoms and felt normal, but I am thinking the embyros have not attached.

Please tell me what you mean by "beta & hpt". I think hpt means pregnancy test.

Do many other clinics have a follow up after et.  We have not heard from them since the transfer. Is this normal?

The uk agency & Cyprus clinic we used has been excellent up to the point of embyro transfer.

No symptoms doesn't not mean not pregnant.  there have been tons of ladies on here who thought for sure their cycles had failed, only to find out that they were indeed pregnant. so, you can by no means go by lack of symptoms.

( bfp means big fat positive, hpt home pregnancy test)

Yeah, you usually will not hear from the clinic during your tww (two week wait).  this is very much the norm.

I never test before my blood work... I'm too chicken.  let me know if you do test early though ok??

Hi

She can't wait for the official dates of the 18/08 & 20/08 to have the test. ( she has already had 3 in the last 30 hours and showing positive and pregnant. ) we advised the clinic and they said it could be a false negative reading and not to get to excited.

So we shall confirm in the morning.

Ok, well, I have never heard of anyone getting a "false" positive.  A positive is a positive.  I am going to congratulate you now... cause you are BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well she took another test this morning.  Clearblue digital showing 2-3.  She has to have another test on 20/08.  Looking positive but want to make completely sure before we start to celebrate.

On another note she has had the flu for the last few days, headaches, and it has brought on her asthma.  I also have caught the flu. (head cold)

When do you think she she have her first scan to make sure all is ok.

Thanks for your replies.  The good news is  just sinking in now
