Just a comment: Those progesterone injections hurt like hell!!!

I started them two days ago and they HURT and make your butt cheeks soar but I will take any pain for a BFP result :)

Two suggestions-ice before for like 2 minutes- this numbs the area.  Then after the shot, apply heat- this distributes the oil so it doesn't clump up in spots.

Sorry... had to chuckle! : )  I feel the same way though... I want to do the shots next time not the crinone!  I even liked the progesterone pills over the crinone!  But (no pun intented), it will all be worth it when you get that BFP my friend!  Again, I am leaving tomorrow night for CA, so I will not have access to a computer... but know I WILL be thinking of you and sending you tons and tons of baby dust!!!!

Tell me about it!  Between 1st IVF, mock cycle and now preparing for my FET, I feel like I have been injecting forever!  My poor butt cheeks are killing me!

Is it a burning sensation that you're feeling? If so, try releasing the medicine slowly instead of pushing it through quickly. When I was doing hcg injections, it burned a lot, and a friend who is a nurse recommending taking it slower.

My hubby is doing them since I can't reach my butt otherwise i will totally do them myself. He is doing a good job. Yesterday was better but it still hurts. What I do is to massage the area and it feels like you can't even walk/nor sit down for few seconds, but then I'm OK!
Between the injections and shoveling all this 20 inches of Massachusetts snow, I'm quite soar. Tylenol helps.

They are going to call me tomorrow at 8:30 am to see if the transfer is tomorrow at 12:10pm or on Sunday. I can't believe this is here!!! I'm nervous!!!!!!!
Out of the 12 eggs, 11 fertilized and today 7 are still OK

Mine hurt in the beginning but like mentioned above, I started icing the area while setting up the injection... maybe 2 minutes max. Then hubby injected and then rubbed vigorously for another minute. After that, I either sat on a heating pad for 15 minutes or took a walk. Stopped feeling altogether once I found a good routine. Still bruised though but the pain was gone. And like you said, it's ALL worth it in the end  :-)

I start the progesterone shots Monday night after my retrieval and I'm terrified! I know it will all be worth it in the end. My doctor prescribed numbing lotion, has anyone tried it?

I will try the icing today. yesterday was not so bad and I massaged my butt like crazy!!! hahahhahaha and walked at the same time. I have 2 eggs inside of me now. They gave me valium and I slept for 5 hours. I woke up right at 4pm and who is on TV? Oprah with the octomom!!!  Well, I don't want eight babies for sure but please GOD at least ONE!!!! :)

I will take it easy until Wednesday (no work) and then go back to my life and pray. I won't read too much into the symptoms because it is all the progesterone shots and I will NOT do HPT because I hate them and they stress me more. Blood test is more accurate

Hi, I was just wondering if you are changing the large needle to the smaller one? I was given 2 sizes. One to remove the pio then change to a smaller needle for injection, also DH and I would walk around the block right away and that helped, also make sure you ask the nurse/re to confirm your DH is hitting the right spot, this shouldn't hurt!

The progesterone shots I'm taking are olive oil based so the needle has to be 1 1/2 inches. The injection comes with that needle and then I have to change it to the exact size, can you believe it, otherwise the oil wouldn't go through.
I do it in the top outer quarter of my but (First quadrant or fourth quadrant depending on the size) , like where the video from the fertility pharmacy.

I will call the nurse today. Yesterday I almost cry because of the pain.... I was not relaxed because I saw my hubby about to inject me. I think if I don't see him I will be OK! plus he "cut" the skin a bit getting the needle out

How far does he go in? I did the pio aka progesterone in oil, the two needles are not, I  repeat not supposed to be the same thickness, I for get the gauge, my nurse told me over and over that the needle to remove the oil is much larger than the one you are to use on yourself. She warned if we didnt use the correct needle that I would be really MAD at my DH! Just make sure this is true for you too! All my best,

Dear Melanie, My DH goes all the way with the huge needle at a 90 degree angle! He hates it trust me and he is such a sweetheart so he suffers too :(

I called the nurse and she will send me SMALLER needles!!!! I'm so happy!!! They just realized that I am 5 feet, 100 pound woman, basically a child and those needles were a killer for my tiny little butt:) I was teasing her that I bet the needle goes all the way to my spine and pinches all my nerves.. very unlikely but we laughted instead of cry.

I am not mad at my DH and he FEELS HORRIBLE!!!  He said to me that this is for sure the last time we tried with the fertility stuff and that maybe he used all his luck when he met me so that is OK is we don't have kids. :(

Yesterday I almost cry and I bear tons of pain before complaining!!! IT WAS AWFUL. Tonight I will have to do the big needle again but I will use the ice and tomorrow they will send me the small ones!!!

I live in riverside, my 15 yo decided she didn't like school here so she went to live with her dad in Pennsylvania, I looked into private school but I already have 2 more in college, the school was 26000.00 almost as much as my DD college...lol

I did my MSW at Simmons. My daughter goes to St George School in Middletown/Newport.. it is crazy expensive I know! but she is very smart and wanted to go there badly and it has been great for her. No more fights with Mom and "I love You's back and forth:) hahahah!! Tenn girls are tough.... so moody... at least mine!

Thank you ladies. Tomorrow I will get smaller needles but today I  followed your advice and it worked. I did not feel the pinch (I put ice for a bit) but before that I put the heating pad and also right after the injection. I only felt the oil going inside my muscle but it was tolerable!! THANKS!!!!

My DD is going to RIC for her MSW, She originally wanted to be a lawyer, she's on the deans list, I'm so proud of her! I'm a Master Plumber, so funny none of my kids want to follow in my footsteps, oh well, my future son-in-law works with me. We get a long really well! And yes teen age girls are tough, my son is really easy!

OMG! I start my PIO injections today! The nurse gave me the first one yesterday after my retrieval and I was surprised it didn't hurt at all!!! I wish they were all like that, but my hubby is not a nurse so I doubt it :(

I started the progesterone injections on Monday and I'm convinced we've been doing something wrong. Why? because they don't hurt! Sure I put ice and numbing lotion but even afterwards, all it feels like is that I worked out too hard and my butts sore. Hubby is doing them in the correct location, I'm just worried we are screwing up :/

OMG I'm doing them now, today is my third one! I have to say is not that bad when my hubby gives to me but the next day my butt feels sooo painful! I'm just thinking hopefully I'll be doing them for 7 weeks, but I can't imagine my poor butt cheeks by then! I'm icing the area and then I put a warm towell, but I'm using a 22 1/2 G needle, is that the same that you girls are using? is HUGE!

Now I have LUMPS on my butt.... can you believe it!!! I just realize that because I feel life I have 4 cheeks in my butt instead of one. So I have to tell my hubby tonight to inject me somewhere else in my butt, maybe higher so he won't hit my lumps because they hurt a lot!! My needle is an inch, but before I complained to the nurse I was using a 1 1/2 inch needle!!!   I can do this!!!! I can do this!!!!..... :)   :)    :)

Oh gosh...talk about bumps!  I have HUGE lumps where the injection sites are!  Last night I did my injection and some of the oil actually leaked out of the site and dribbled down my leg...hope that is okay?!?

yesterday my husband was not around so I DID IT myself..... and it was great!!! I was trying to find a place in which I did not have a lump.
I did not realize how much resistance the oil has... is like the muscle says "STOP, I won't let you in because you are HURTING ME and creating LUMPS all over me" hahahah

I think having the control of the situation helped me and I did not use the ice... I just warmed up the area before and after. I was starting to wonder if the progesterone is working or does it get "stuck" on the lumps.... the body can't be that stupid right?! :)

I told the nurse that I I would inject my face if I have to! I will take all the pain for a healthy pregnancy!!! I'm SO happy. It will work for you as well
