Lap surger vs. IVF

I have been ttc to almost 3 years now with no success. I have had all the tests done and also had 3 IUI's with no success.  Everything looks fine for me and my DH. My RE told me that our next step would either be to do the lap surgery or I could go directly to IVF.  I was just wondering if I would be better off to do the lap surgery to see if I have endo, or should I just save my money and put it directly towards doing IVF. What are the chances of getting preggo doing IVF if I have endo?

Sometimes if you get your OB-GYN doctor to do it, your ins. will not look at it as part of infertility and will cover it under your regular part of ins.  That is if your ins. only gives you so much toward infertility benefits.

I did the Lap. surgery a few weeks ago...piece of cake!  I was up and about the next day....not running a marathon or anything, but still felt good.  That was one of the tests my Dr. did before even prescribing any fert. meds.

If your insurance will cover the lap surgery, I think you should do that first.  Especially since you already had 3 failed IUIs.

On the other side, if you insurance won't cover it... it may still be the best option because if you do the ivf and that fails, you may need to go back and pay for the surgery anyway, plus another ivf.

That would be a real bummer to pay out of pocket for the surgery and they don't find anything, but at least it would take the guess work out of it.

Best of luck to you..
