Laproscopy surgery

Hi ladies,  I'm having lap. surgery on the 22nd which I am very nervous about.  I was wondering if any of you that had lap. surgery did you have to take medicine before or after your surgery?  If so, what did you have to take?

Still nervous, but it does help hearing all your stories.  Maybe it's because I am thinking about it too much.  I had laprotomy surgery in June, so I can't believe I'm nervous about this one.  I guess it's because I'm really hoping to get some answers and scared that I won't.  I don't know...  Thankyou and I will keep all of you updated.

You will be fine!!  Don't worry!  I was given pain pills but really didn't have to take them. In fact I felt some relief from my painful endometrioma after the surgery.  I took almost 2 weeks off- my gyno suggested this since I have a very actice job.  But I felt much better after 1 week.  Good luck and we will be thinking of you!!!

Hello!! GOOD LUCK we'll be thinking about you!   I had my lap almost a year ago.. but i had a lot of work done on my left side (most of my left ovary removed, along with a large endometrioma) but it wasn't bad pain at all!  i went home right after, and only took motrin (800mg which they prescribed, they also prescribed vicoden)   the worst part of it is that your bloated (when if you've been on fertility meds thats nothing new!) but the air the put in your stomach to bloat it up to get a better view of everything will hit your diaphram which gives you referred pain in your neck and shoulder, like a toothache.. but totally tolerable, and only noticeable when your sitting upright or walking.. GOOD LUCK!!!

Oh honey,
I have been through sooo much already!!!

I had a lap and it was pretty easy recovery.  I was back at work in about 3-4 days.  I did not take any meds before; you will be totally under and will not remember anything about the surgery.  After the surgery my ob gave me some painkillers but I did not take more than one pill since I was not in pain.  Your recovery time will depend on what they do during your surgery though.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!!!
