I am new to the site and am hoping someone can help me. I had my first HCG level checked at 5w5d and it was 1076. Two days later it was 1500. When they did an ultrasound, they ruled out EP but said it was too early to see anything in Uterus. They did HCG again 5d later and the level was 1776. Today, it was 1780. They are telling me that they have never seen a case where the level rose so slowly and they can't tell me if I will mc or not or what to do? Help! I am now 7w and would like to know what to expect.
Hello momincrisis...... I somewhat know what you are going through.... I have had a similiar situation....and I am only basing this on ME....this has happened twice to me where the levels were low and they were not doubling as they should have....the first time I miscarried and the second pregnancy it was ectopic
.... I just want to stress that this happened to me...that may not be your case....but low hCG levels and levels that do not double are usuually not a viable pregnancy..... I wish you luck and I am thinking about you...Jacquie
I had a similar situation happen -my levels were not doubling- at 5 weeks they could not see a sac in the uterus- my levels were 2590- at 5 wks 3 dys the sac appeared in the uterus- at 6 weeks my levels were 4700- at 7 weeks the sac had not grown at all- barely measured on the u/s scan- had a D&C- because I was not miscarrying on my own- Dr. told me that if levels are not rising/doubling- it is most likely not a viable pregnancy. Have you had your progesterone levels taken?
I am on Prometrium a pill form of progesterone for low levels which they say wouldn't affect my HCG levels. I just wish they would tell me there is no hope but they just keep telling me to wait.
I too have levels that werent doubling.. first 230 sencond (2days later) 437... third (3days later) 1009 at (exactly 5wks)... I've been so worried... my doctor called me today and he said they look ok as long as they keep rising... mine aren't exactly doubling but are going up at a 75% rate which is good, they are doing an ultrasound tomorrow to see if they can see anything and hopefully everything goes ok ... hang in there.. hope everything works out for the both of us!
I had a similar situation with hcg levels not doubling. My levels were lower than yours at 5 1/2 weeks (only 776). The hardest part is the doctor and staff not being able to tell you anything (good or bad). I hated having to wait it out. I was able to go in for an ultrasound at 6 weeks and by that point my levels had hit 1600 and my dr. said that they could probably see something (at least a sac) by that point. Unfortunately my pregnancy ended in a m/c (it was a blighted ovum).Did your dr. mention doing an ultrasound? Thinking of you and hope all turns out to be good, hang in there!
Your levels double every two to three days. I was told yesterday from my RE's office that once the numbers get so high, the doubling slows down. This is how mine has gone:
1st beta: 811 (18dpo or 4w4d)
2nd beta: 1915 (2days later; 4w6d)
3rd beta: 4835 (4 days later; 5w3d)
. I had noticed that the doubling slowed down, so I called the next day, and the nurse said it is normal...they have no concerns at this point. I go next Friday for my u/s (6w6d). I am nervous that we won't see a sac, heartbeat
, or not growing properly. However, my belly is growing already, and the doctor told me it could be twins when they gave me the results of the 3rd beta.
Doctor did an ultrasound today... he didn't see what he wanted to see.. he saw something in the uterus.. but he's concerned at this point... I am too! I am starting to get a little discouraged..
if they couldn't see anything??? that doesn't make sense. I was in the same situation as you in november where they couldn't see anything and bam it was an ectopic
.. they still couldn't see anything but I was in so much pain they did an exploratory lap and it was my tube was in bad shape. just be careful and first sign of pain go to your nearest hospital
