Low HCG 1st IVF

This is my first IVF after 6 years exactly of infertility only 1 conception (shock) that ended 7 weeks. Transfer was 10/22. I had my second blood test 11/1 (10dpt)and my first was 10/30 (8dpt). When the results came in 11/1 the nurse was concerned with my levels so I have to retest Saturday and results will not be in until Monday 3pm. This weekend is going to be torturous! The first level was ONLY 3 and in 48 hrs. went up to 26. It is extremely low but increasing. Has anyone had anything like this happen?

Congrats on your great news!  IVF is different from getting pregnant naturally and everything is timed and my DR says you can't test before the time frame because it is not going give you the best numbers.  HCG beta at two weeks post transfer, progestrone four days post transfer, u/s four weeks post transfer.  Unless of course like me you start to bleed at about five weeks gestations, three weeks post transfer.

First of all I want to thank you all for your support and shayla1 I agree that the Doctors and Nurses should be more consideration with out feelings and at least give us some hope. I think I am going to get some bad news today.  I took a digital pregnancy test this morning and it was NOT PREGNANT! The other tests were giving me a BFP but the digital clearly did not. I will let you know how it turns out.
Tandkfisher, that is such a wonderful story about your Son and you were only in the 50's after two weeks. That just goes to show that sometimes the numbers do not matter at all.
I wish all the dreams to come true for each and every one!

Just continue to think possible.  I think your levels are fine since they tested so early.  The good news is your levels are doubling still.  Sometimes it takes the embryo a little longer to implant.  So maybe your implanted later, which will show low numbers.  My Dr. waited to test me 13dpt my levels were high (330), but they tested me a lot later.  The good news is for your first test at 14dpt my dr. said he likes levels to be 70 and above.  I am sure you will receive great news tomorrow.  I will say a prayer for you.  God Bless you and your DH. I am surprised that you tested so soon after the IVF transfer.  My FET was on 10/11 and I did not take first HCG until 10/25.  My level was 236 then.  I think they tested you to soon.  SHould have waited a full two weeks following transfer.  Quite possible you are pregnant and with your levels go up as they have it is definitely positive.  On Monday which would be your two weeks if they tested you then I would bet that your levels were up high like they are suppose to be.  My first IVF after two weeks my HCG was in the fifties.  Got a healthy baby boy from that round.

I'm no doctor but I get annoyed when I hear these docs and nurses always sounding so gloom because your numbers were low..BUT they doubled!  Perhaps on the day you had your first blood draw you JUST implantated....numbers start at zero...if in two days your numbers jumped from 3 to 26 I think that sound great actually...that's WAY MORE than doubling.

It is really good that they are doubling right now that is all that matters. The fact that they were that low at 8 dpt i think would be ok they have to start somewhere right, I hope that it is all ok. good luck Keep us posted

I know some have not tested a second time if under 5. My clinic does not get the results until the 2nd test is done. I guess I am glad for that. They want to see the numbers to double so they need that 2nd test. However, my clinic coordinator is not thinking this looks good for me as it could be a chemical pregnancy. She at least could have given me some hope as it is not over until it is over. I still can not help to get excited because the numbers did increase and if I am having a chemical pg I can not imagine that the numbers would go from 3 to 26. I am no expert so I will have to just have faith that what ever the outcome is me and DH will be just fine. I had another test this morning and results will be in Monday afternoon. I am going crazy with this wait.

I am suprised that they even tested a second time... My dr considers anything under a 6 to be negative... BUT - your numbers are doubling - that is great!
