Low progesterone & no ovulation...is Clomid the answer?

Hey there, I am 34 and have had 3 pregnancies and two healthy babies in the past 5 years.  I am trying for baby #3 and just found out that my progesterone level on day 21 was 0.2...shockingly low.  My doctor wants to put me on Clomid as I cannot be ovulating with such low levels.  Can anyone offer advice on Clomid?  I am scared about taking infertility medicine and am pretty shocked this is happening!  Thanks so much!

Yeah, waiting may be the way to go for right now. I know how difficult that can be (I've been trying for almost 20 months and still no baby), but I honestly feel with you having had successful pregnancies in the past that once your body gets regulated, you'll be pregnant in no time. The only other thing I can think of is if you're trying to conceive with a different partner, then take that into consideration. If not, then hold tight and try the cream and see what happens! Good luck!

Thank you for the info!  We have no cause of the problem for such low progesterone, but I would like to try the progesterone cream, if nothing more to just even myself out.  I have had some side effects to the low progesterone -- weight gain, mood swings, nausea -- all symptoms that led me to believe I was pregnant!  I have been trying for 5 months.  I am going to take your advice and just keep trying!

I have taken clomid many times- I had mild cramping, a little bloating and weight gain. Emotional at best, and cranky other times. It was fine- I got pg- but miscarriage for me (unrelated to clomid). It works- but also get on progesterone and take it two days after you are sure you ovulated- check out natural progesterone at the health food stores and use after ovulation until period arrives:) good luck!

Hey. Did they say what can lead to such low levels if you've already had successful pregnancies? I do know sometimes there are months when one doesn't ovulate for different reasons (stress for example) so maybe that was just the case for you. How long have you been trying this time around? If it hasn't been that long I would weight it out and see if pregnancy happens. Good luck!
