Male Infertility

About a year ago, I had a bilateral epididymectomy and have since remarried. We are wondering if there is any chance of extacting any live and well sperm, for the opportunity of having another child? Thanks for any information that you can give us.

Hi!  I can't answer your question but I would like to say that this would be a really good question for the doctor forum.  You can usually post a question if you get on early enough.  I know they may have answers for you.  I hope everything goes well for you.

I believe this means you had both your sperm ducts removed?  As long as you are still making sperm in the testes then yes you are fertile, but will require In vitro fertilization to conceive.  A urologist can perform a procedure called TESA in which they can put a needle into the testes and remove sperm directly from the tissue.  They can also operate on the testes and remove the tissue making the sperm, put the tissue in media and the sperm will "swim" out.  They can then use these sperm to perform ICSI-intercytoplasmic sperm injection.  It only takes one sperm per egg.  This is the produce DH and myself used.  Good luck to you.

We also have the male issue - we have currently tried 2 iui with dh sperm 1st bing 15 million the second was down much further to 3 million therefore we are now going to donor sperm.  Hopefully this will work.

I have seen procedures called TESA and this is for men with very low sperm counts.  They use a butterfly catheter(needle with small gauge) and take sperm that way.
