Hi! Yes, I am a follistim, lupron, menopur etc..... and took medrol. My RE said the same thing. Medrol is a steroid that helps your body readilly accept the embryo transfer. I took 8mg 2x a day. There are side effects, like hunger and nausea.Good luck to you!!!!
ladies -
Thanks for all the responses! I talked with my RE and will be on medrol for this next round of IVF.
Funny, I have been doing some reading online, and a couple of places state that it is normal to prescribe with ICSI and FET....... my RE never did.
I will be curious to see if we get our BFP this time with this new med added!
Sal- when do you start taking the pill? Day 1 after retrieval, transfer????
Sam...
You must've read my mind...so glad you posted this. I've been trying to gather info to prepare for IUI & IVF (just in case). Juana posted a nice note about it under our AGP Sister thread, but Sal has answered it along with chaser very well. I'm going to get it too.
Sal or anyone do you know if it is used for IUI? I'm going to ask & also for the antibotics. Sam...did were you on those as well? I think some of the ladies are on these before & after transfer. I'll email you a nice protocol that a young lady on the site shared with me...she is prego w/twins now. ;o)
Savanha~~
I am in the middle of my second IVF cycle. I was prescribed Medrol both times. Brings the immune system down a bit to keep your body from attacking the embryos.
I have done 5 IVF (3 fresh and 2 FET)with 2 different RE and they both prescribed medrol after transfer 4 pills x 4 days.
Yep, Sam, Im a Medrol girl.
RE says it help for you not to reject the embryos.
Its a 5 day supply of teenie pills. You take like 5 pills on day 1, then 4 on day 2, etc..
It's a steroid.
I have done 3 IVF cycles and 2 FET and have never used Medrol. I have only used Gonal-F and Menopur.
