Men's fertility???

Men's fertility???

As women, I've heard that after 30 our fertility starts to decline. Has anyone heard if men's fertility is the same way? Maybe not right at 30, but as we make our way through the 30's????

I've heard that men's fertility does not decline like women's do in their 30s and 40s, since they produce new sperm throughout their lives. There are however some questions about whether or not it is a factor as they get older than that.

Yes, men and women have the same issue. infertility at older age.   when we reach to certain age, the eggs seem less for woman, and for man the mobility of sperms are weaker and the volume of sperms will be less.  Just like us when we reach past 30+, our chance to conceive are less than any woman who are in their 20s.

it's sucks doesn't it?

It sure does! Thanks ladies, just wondering what will be working against me if we don't conceive soon! It makes sense that men "last" longer since they are always making sperm. Thanks again!

They do make sperms doesn't mean the have good quality.  Like my DH, he has good volume of sperms, but the mobility is less.  73% the sperm slow swimmer.  I have only 27% of good swimmer.

I just take my chance and see what happen.  IUI is good option, but i am unable to have IUI this cycle due to my uterus lining so thin from taking fertility medicine, (clomid).

:-(

If it makes you feel any better, Tim was tested 3x and all 3 came back great. He is 45 and they said he has the sperm of an 18 y/o. He works out nearly every day, eats very well, doesn't drink coffee(caffeine reduces sperm count/quality)and takes vitamins. I was relieved to know he is not a factor.

My DH hasn't been tested so we have no idea where he stands but I'm assuming I'm the problem. My cycles vary between 34 days to 80 days!!!

Dear SLB123-

Actually, women's fertility does not start to decline substantially until beyond age 35. Men have a much more subtle decline, and only when older. Most men remain fertile for much of their live - recall Anthony Quinn and Tony Randall, actors who fathered children in their 70s and 80s!

Don't automatically assume that the problem is only with you. There are many men that do have issue and you would never know without testing.  If you have been trying for at least a yr, your medical ins may cover an s/a. Even if it doesn't, it's not that $. If not for anything else, just piece of mind.

I go to my Dr. the end of the month so I will ask what she thinks. Our ins. doesn't cover fertility treatments so I'm afraid if I find a problem we won't be able to afford to fix it anyway! I don't know if you know my story but I have 2 kids-9 and 3, went through 2 mc's in 2006 and haven't been able to get pregnant since. Tried clomid but that didn't work. I guess with the mc's and my cycles wacky I'm just assuming I'm the problem. I'll look into that s/a though...
