My doc does not use femara in her practice. Is that weird?

I just finished my 5th cycle of clomid (waiting for af to show..got negative beta on Wed.).  My lining was so thin last cycle (4.2 on day of trigger) that my RE took me off the clomid.  I asked about doing femara for this next cycle but she doesn't use it in her practice anymore because she had low success rates with it.

So my only option for this next cycle is to have an HSG, ultra-sounds to monitor follicle growth and a trigger shot when it's time (granted, this will actually be our first month of"naturally"..meaning without an ovulation med..as we only just started TTC in June).  So I don't mind trying this month without the help of a medication but I was a little taken-aback that femara is totally off the table with this doctor.  I live in what many consider the best medical city in the country and my doctor is well-respected so I'm kind of confused as to why she wouldn't prescribe a med. that seems to have good success rates, based on the literature, and has little known side-effects.

Is this odd?

My RE also didn't use it because it wasn't approved by the FDA.  More studies have been done on Clomid.

I believe the other issue is that it's not FDA approved for infertility.  It is a drug that was  developed and used to treat breast cancer.  My RE didn't use it either and I think that was the reason they gave me - not success rates.

It sounds like you live in Boston, do you? My RE, who is at Tufts Medical Center, does not prescribe Femara either. I thought it was weird, too, but she claims the same as your doc, that the success rate on it is very low. She upped my Clomid this cycle from 100 mg to 150 mg. I did alright on it, not too many side effects. I just felt c rappy and headachy for a few days. I doubt we'll ever conceive, though. I'll be 42 next month and have diminished ovarian reserve. If you do live in Boston, and want the name of an awesome acupuncturist in Brookline, let me know. His success is huge!
