Need Advice

So here is the story, may be lengthy, but i want to be clear. So please if you can read and comment if you have any insight. thank you.

I had scarring at the bottom of my cervix which prevented menstrual flow from coming out. I had monthly pain every  month. This went on for an entire year. All of my hormonal testing came back in good ranges. My ovaries are still functioning and I am not menopausal. My mri showed only scarring in the cervix which is a great thing. So my dr. told me prior to surgery that i could ttc right away. the day of my mri my lining was @ 5mm. My surgery was successful. They were very happy about their findings. Now after surgery i was put on birth control for 2 weeks for the duration of the stent which i was wearing. I was told that i could stop the b/c after that. So...when i go to have my stent removed, she tells me that she wants me to take b/c for 3 months and come back to follow up. I am quite disappointed at her advice.
Now that my cervix is open and my uterus is clear it think it would be the best tiem to try. I would think after one withdrawal bleed. I think 3 months is too long to wait to see the dr. Why wait so long? Also, from what i have read b/c thins your endometrium, which is not what i need right now! I am still wearing the birth control patch for the 3rd week then i will take it off and hopefully have a withdrawal bleed. IF i do, have a normal period, i would rather ttc right away.  I dont think waiting to see dr in march is a good move. What do you think?

ok, here's what I did... I had estrogen for 90 days the first time (had my periods every 30-33 days) and then did the progesterone the last 7.  and the second time I had estrogen for 30 days and then progesterone for 7.  after stopping the estrogen.  about about 5-8 days after I stopped the progesterone, I had my withdraw bleed.
I think Kris71 did something similar too.
I would see what happens after monday, and go from there.  Estrogen is to promote the healing process.  It causes the endo to thicken (even around the cerix).  the thought is, that the estogen will cause healthy growth of the lining before the scarring can re-form.

After you take off your b/c patch, I would not go on b/c for 3 months after your period.  I would asked to be put on estrogen for the 3 months instead.   You want to promote the lining not hinder it.
You could also email Dr. March back, and ask him what he thinks you should do after you come off the b/c, and get your withdraw bleed.

Hope that helps??

Okay so I spoke with my Dr. she said the reason why she put me on birth control instead of regular estrogen is because i havent had a period in a year and she wants the withdrawal bleed. she said that with estrogen I will eventually have a withdrawal bleed but it will not induce it. She said if she were to put me on estrogen I would have to take progesterone simultaneously. So I guess i will finish the last patch that i am wearing i take it off on Monday and hopefully i will have the withdrawal bleed.

Dr. March emailed me back and basically said that I should not be on  birth control. He said i should be on a real form of estrogen. He said that the b/c causes the lining to thin. Hmmmm. I contacted my Dr. I am waitng for her to call me back. I have to ask her why i am not on estrogen when every woman that i have heard about has been put on estrogen for 30-50 days following hysteroscopy. I hate the thought of seeing another doctor unless he is an a-lister. I am still kinda hopeful though, so maybe i can just get the prescription and begin taking it for a while. Is it possible to conceive while taking estrogen?

Possibly they are worried that your cervix will be incompetent to hold in the pregnancy if it does not have a chance to fully heal after the surgery.  It's true that after removal of scars and adhesions inside the uterus, you can try quickly (if the uterine lining is normal), but you said yours was confined to the cervix.  That makes me think you'd get a part of the way along in a pregnancy and might need a cerclage or possibly even lose the baby due to cervical incompetence.  Be sure to find out why they are telling you three months, and if that is why, I'd take it seriously.

I would get a second opinion about no ttc for 3 months.  Did your dr explain why that is necessary?  I had a surgery due to scar tissue (a little different from what you had) and my ob said that surgery is a temporary solutions since scar tissue tends to come back within weeks.  Also, all surgeries cause scars and may add to scar tissue in the long run.  Try to press your ob for answers.  They should answer all of your questions and explain everything to you.

Alot of doctors who are specialist in uterine scarring will tell you to start trying right away, before the scarring can reform.   I think the second opinion is a good idea, and there are doctors that are specialist in the cervical/uterine scarring (ashermans).  I can give you a couple of names if you'd like.  Kris71 just dealt with cervical scarring.  Drop her a line, and maybe she can give you some guidance.  There is a doctor in CA that awesome, his name is Dr. Charles March... you might want to check him out.  He will email you personally (no charge) and answer any questions you have.   He email address is on his website califoniafertiltydocs  and he is an awesome caring man.

its disappointing as they said you could ttc as soon as you had the surgery and now they are telling you to wait another 3 months. personally, i would get a second opinion from a different doctor, if they agree and say to wait 3 months ask why. it may be compulsary as to make sure your cervix is back to normal and if you were pregnant and your cervix needed more work done to it, you would have to wait until baby is born and delaying the problem may make it worse. if this was the case, i would wait. your cervix is gonna need to be in tip top shape for a baby. if it is not essential to wait 3 months then there should be no reason to try next month. have a word with your doctor though, they know what is best for your well being. try not to be impatient, it will also be good for your labour and baby's safety
