Need advice DH semen test not good

Hi, my dh got tested last week for the 1st time. He is going to the doc today to get results interpreted but I read the paper and it looks like his abnormal sperm count was 95%, only 5% normal..... where it should be more than 14%!!!
Everything else looks normal range.
I'm very concerned. What does this mean? Are we not going to be able to conceive naturally? Is there anything he can do to change those #'s?

            Me and my dh are in the exact same place as you. His count and motility are normal but on his last sa he had only 4 percent normal forms. We already have one daughter who was conceived after a 2 of months! However we have been trying for our 2nd for over a year! We are seeing a specialist. My hubby is taking really good care of his health right now. No caffeine, very little alcohol and taking a high dose of zinc (80mg) and vitamin C (2000mg) as well as an over the counter father to be vitamin combo. We are waiting for the results of his second sa. i will post if they have improved!!! I hope this helps!!!

Well the doc said everything looks fine, yes his abnormal count is high but the doc said that he had a high about of sperm and the mobility was great. She said to just keep trying bc his results were "good".
Since she wasn't a fertility specialist I'm still a little skeptical but we will keep trying and see what happens.

Sperm count and motility are important, but you need a test that tells you what his morphology is. My hubby has double varicoceles and we had to do two tests to find that out. Morphology determines the shape of the sperm. If you have too many abnormal then that's bad. We are trying IUI b/c we want to give his spermies the best chance to get to the egg. We still don't know if the sperm will be able to penetrate the egg b/c of their shape, but we are hopeful. You can get a semen analysis through a urologist, but I would recommend a reproductive endocrinologist to be sure. Not sure if your insurance covers that. Hope this helps!

Nope our insurance doesn't cover anything to do with infertility or SA.
We haven't been to a RE yet bc of that but I am still concerned about those numbers dh got. His morphology was only 5% normal even though everything else was fine.
I guess I will just have him do another SA in March and compare the results. Until ten I will go get checked up. Does anyone know if they run any fertility tests at the obyn or I have to go to a RE for that?

Most OBGYN's can do blood work to make sure you are Oing and some can do HSG's to make sure your tubes aren't blocked.  Good luck.

Btw, my husbands first SA was really bad.  Low count, mis-shapen, no tales and the urologist pretty much told us DH's swimmers had no idea what they were doing, lol.  But we had a second SA which was much better.  Still low count because he had a vericocele, but we concived naturally after I had an HSG.  DH had  the verococele surgery and we got preggo two times after that without a problem.
