New to Femera

I have PCOS and I am TTC. This is my first time on femera. I am taking 2 2.5 milligrams a day (3-7). I am currently on day 5. Has anyone had positive outcomes? Also, what day should I test? My doctor wants to see on day 21, but isen't that to early to have positive results?

I did avoid clomid this time inorder to avoid another set of twins (I do understand this could happen with femara too). I am blessed to have twins, but carrying twins were hard on my body and they were premature. I would like to avoid the complications that come along with it.

Well first round of Femara was wonderful without side effects. Sadly didn't conceive. Right now I'm on cd 6 and ended up having to take Femara again 2.5mg but this time from cd 4-8 so hopefully this will be the month

I took femara 5mg CD3-7 and did OPK on CD13, and +, had vaginal US same day and 2 great looking follicles 32 and 22mm. Did IUI CD14 (which was 8/22) and now is day 2 in the 2 week wait!!!
I ovulated much sooner on femara.

Friday was the last day for me to take Femara. On Saturday I decided to take one of the OPKs for the heck of it and it was positive. Couldn't believe it so I took it again on Sunday same thing. Decided to wait until today to call my gyno, had to give myself time to calm down. But he said that I didn't test too soon and the test was right. So I already hit the O! I'm still having a hard time believing it though. But now just a waiting game until it's time to either take a HPT or do another round of Femara! I didn't expect it to help me O that soon or even for this round.
How are things going for you? Any updates?

I have 2 more days of taking Femara. The only side effect that I'm getting so far is just vertigo and hopefully that's all I get from it. I've heard a lot of great things about Femara too. Clomid didn't work all that great for me, I had severe side effects from that and even had OHSS which I had to be placed on bed rest for 3 days. But I do have to say that even though I have this side effect it's not so bad at all and I now I can handle it. Even if it doesn't work the first time around I will be willing to try it again.
I am praying still that you get that BFP! Let me know how it turns out. And don't worry if you don't receive it the first time around. I know a few others who didn't get that BFP on the first but they did after the 2nd and 3rd. I only know 1 person that I've been talking to and it happened the 1st time. Stay positive and it will happen for you :)

Yaaay! I hope everything turns out great for you! I am still waiting and hoping for a BFP. I think you have great odds on Femara, I have heard great things about it, even when Clomid did not work.

I finally seen AF on day 4 after taking Provera. Which cd 1 was on Saturday. I am now on cd 3 and 1st day of Femara today. So far so good. I hope and pray that you're results come out the way you hope. And hope you get that BFP :) Now another waiting game for me. I'm keeping a positive attitude about this. Hopefully it works and will be able to get that BFP that my dh and I have been waiting for the past 2 yrs.

So far Femara has been great for me. I have had no side effects. Except ovulation! Hopefully, it will be the same for you. I am now CD 21. I think you will find Femara  better than clomid. I have six year old girls from clomid, and just thought I would take a diffrent direction this time. I hope I made the right choice! I went yesterday for my 21 day blood work (however, I ways only CD 20) and will find out the results of that on Monday, then maybe by the end of next week I will get a BFP! Not trying to get my hopes up to much though. Best of luck! Sure you will start CD 1 soon.

I know what you mean about your husband being too positive. Mine is the same way. I love this site along with babyzone.com. A lot of supportive people and that's what I need. I normally start AF 4 days after Provera and that was with the lowest dose. I was on a higher dose and today is day number 3 and it's still early in the day so hopefully soon. This is my first time ever with Femara. I tried Clomid from Nov 2010 until Feb 2011. The side effects were way too much for me and took a break from fertility drugs and tried Fertilityblend until the beginning of June. My gyno said he wanted to try something else with me but I couldn't get in to see him until near the end of June. Now it's just a waiting game to see cd-1. I'm usually a patient one since I do have a 2 yr old (terrible 2's he'll be 3 in Dec) with him it only took 8 months to conc. I found out last year that I stopped o-ing due to my hormonal balance went off track and I'm only able to have AF with the help of Provera.

I started 3 days after Provera, but I took it for 10 days. I understand how eager you are to get started. I have been that way ever step. Now I am on the 2 week wait, and I am so eager POAS already. This baby making stuff should teach us all patience. : ) Is this your first try with Femara?

Thank you ProudMommy. I do think this is lots of fun, but lots of stress too. Ups and Downs! This is my 3rd cycle trying, but first with help. So I am pretty positive this round. However, femara is new to me, so I do find myself worrying about weather it will work for me or not. I turn to this site for help a lot. My husband is to positive, and seems not to relate to my fears. Thank goodness for these sites, and other women that understand!!

Yeah it is a fun process isn't it. I've been ttc for 2 yrs now for second child. So I'm hoping that this one will work. The Provera usually takes me 3-4 days to start it after 5 days of taking it. They gave me a stronger dose so hopefully it will be sooner so I can start the Femara and get more things going.  I need a bit more patience than I already have.
That is really awesome that you finally got that positive OPK that you've been waiting for :)
sending you lots of baby dust too :)

I found out that one of my friends did a cycle of Femara. Dr told her that she will O. on or around cd 10/11 and she Oed on cd 14. It depends on the person. I will be starting Femara on Aug 9th cd 3-7. It is a hard waiting process. I even hate waiting to take it but I have to wait for Provera to start working. (Which I had just started the pills today). I am praying for you that you will O really soon and sending baby dust your way.

Hi Jessica,

the spotting on Day 9 could be implantation bleeding.  Have you ever had this before?

Really hoping that this is your month.  Let us know!

If it was implantation bleeding you should be able to get your first positive in 3 - 4 days.

Sally....That gives me hope. I am so happy for you.

Concern....I was spotting yesterday on day 9. It was very light spotting and dark brown in color. Is this normal? No spotting today though. : )

Hi,

I did two clomid cycles and then we moved to femara as clomid thinned my lining too much.

I then got pregnant on my first femara cycle, but lost it at about 7 weeks.  I then got pregnant by myself after one cycle with no help, but lost that one at 8 weeks.  Then I did 3 cycles of femara, and got pregnant on the third cycle.  Am nearly 5 weeks now and praying this will stick.  I am feeling quite pregnant this time, so maybe that's a good sign.

Best of luck.! I am now on day 9, and I took the femara on day 3- 7. I hope I O! Testing twice a day now. I go back to my OB on the 21st for blood work. Not sure what they are testing for though. I did not have any side effects on the femara, so hopefully you don't have any. But the provera made me light headed! It is all worth it in the end though.

My gyno just placed me on Femara due to severe side effects of Clomid (been off of that for a few months to give my body a break). I'm only 25 and in premenopausal state. I start Provera on Friday. Then on day 3-7 take Femara. I never been on a normal cycle either. My AF's stopped all together in 2009. I had to take Provera every 2 months to have a cycle. My dh and I have been ttc our second child with fail for the past 2 yrs. It's really nice that I found others who are taking Femara.
@ Super_sally congrats and I wish you the best :)
