New to OPKS can you help?

Hi, Ive been TTC since Sept 2009 and have only had 4 periods and they have all been long non-ovulatory cycles. I have been temping this whole time. Even though temping is pretty accurate on its own I decited to try OPKS. I bought 50 and waiting for them to arrive. Before I start using them I would like to know tips and advice on how to use them in my situation. I am currently on CD 13. Do I take them everyday or everyother day? I am doing OPKS to keep me busy while waiting for my specialist appt. So I know I need to see a doctor I have already taken those messures. But OPKs is something I need advice on right now if anyone can help!!!! Thank you!

Definitely do them every day, some women will do them twice a day, do not use first morning urine, I found that the best time to test for myself was at 2pm. You may test at any time of day, but you should test approximately the same time each day. Reduce your liquid intake for 2 hours before testing. To find out when to begin testing, determine the length of your normal cycle. The length of your cycle is from the beginning of one period to the beginning of the next. Count the first day of bleeding or spotting as day 1. If your cycle length is irregular, that is, if it varies by more than a few days each month, take the average number of days for the last 3 months. Use the chart below to figure out the day you should begin testing. The day you begin testing is listed opposite the number of days in your cycle.

Cycle length 28 start testing on cycle day 11
Cycle length 29 start testing on cycle day 12
Cycle length 30 start testing on cycle day 13
Cycle length 31 start testing on cycle day 14
Cycle length 32 start testing on cycle day 15
Cycle length 33 start testing on cycle day 16
Cycle length 34 start testing on cycle day 17
Cycle length 35 start testing on cycle day 18

Hope this helps and good luck =0)

OPKS are best when you know or have some idea when you are ovulating. If you are not ovulating, which appears to be so, then you can buy 50-100 tests and may not be able to tell. I suggest you figure out your cycles first and then try to test after day 14 of your cycle. It also depends how long your cycles are. Good luck.

The idea behind OPKS is to take them usually after day 14 (for most women). Test everyday until you get a positive result. This means you will hopefully ovulate in the next 24-36 hours. In order to have a baby, its best to have sex the day the test yurns positive and the days after.
