Nipple discharge

I have had nipple discharge ever since I can remember. On both sides, only when squeezed. I have gone through infertility treatments, and have one son from IVF. Subsequent attempts have failed. I had my prolactin levels checked awhile ago and they were ok, but highish. Should I have my prolactin levels rechecked? Is it possible to have nipple discharge all the time and be normal? Or is nipple discharge always a symptom of a problem? Thanks for your input!

Hello - yes I would have your prolactin levels re-checked -  I have abnormally high prolactin and so my doctor sent me for an MRI - I was diagnosed with a micro pituitary tumor - this is a really tiny benign tumor that sits on the pituitary gland and can make your body produce too much prolactin - It's nothing to worry about, and harmless, and I just take 'Bromocryptin' pills to counteract the affect!   Or it could indicate a thyroid problem which is also easily treated with pills.  (I have that as well!!)  that's it!   I would see a doctor again ans ask to be checked out - especially if you are having nipple discharge.    Good Luck :)
