No follicles

Please can anyone let me know if this has happened to them? I am on cd8 chlomid and am going to have my third month of hcg shot once I have follicles big enough. I went for scan today, nurse said this was early but I had no follicles at all. Is this normal?

did you have any follicles at baseline u/s which is usually done around day 2, 3 or 4?? usually they look to see how many you have to start and then at the 2nd u/s they see how many are growing. At day 8 it seems you should have some growing by now especially on clomid. What does the dr say?

My friend on here is going thru something similar & was told she only has one.  She is going to try & stimulate for IVF.

What is the case with you? Does your Dr know why?  What did they say when they saw this?

Hi kricket my dr just said it's probably because it's early, I don't know what to think! I don't ovulate myself which is why I was put on Clomid and as this didn't work itself I have had hcg shot twice now first time cd10 and last time cd13 so maybe cd8 is early for follicles. Would love to hear any other stories/advice. Thanks x

Hi kris I never have a scan that early, normally from cd10 but as it's the weekend I had to do cd8 yesterday, go back on Monday cd11. The dr just said didn't look like there was much activity happening but didn't seem concerned as it's early. I still don't know what to think.

I have had similar problem. I had follicles but they never mature and make good eggs. They are just cells. In 2 years I have had 4 failed ivf and 2 failed iui. The cells they pull out each time for the ivf where not mature to fertilize.
It happens, I am 36 and they say I am premenapausal. Anyway , to make a very long story short we have finally come to donor egg road. We had my sister tested this past week to see if she can be a donor. I wish you the best of luck and hope somthing works for you. B

Been for my cd 11 scan today and had 1 follicle 15mm on my left ovary and 3 at 11 on the right. Does anyone know if these sizes are good? I have to go for another scan on Wednesday by when the dr thinks I will be ready for hcg so am really hoping this month with hcg and timed intercourse that it will be my lucky month.

You will be fine with size. They grow 1-2 cm a day & then will trigger will make them grow quick too.  You will be close to 18

Thats good! Thanks kricket, will keep you posted tomorrow after cd13 scan. Fingers crossed I can get injection. Been doing everything I should this month, taking folic acid, cut our all alcohol, cut down on caffeine, resting more. Not sure what more I can do.

Just got back from cd13 scan and follicle sizes are still the same one at 14 and 2 at 11. Nurse said it's perfectly normal that they haven't changed size and I have to go back tomorro cd14 for yet another scan. It's all very tiring I just hope it's going to be worth it.

I am sorry that I know it's frustrating but it does work for some people. After going thru the IUI & having to report everyday for a week...I figured I might as well do IVF.  I am praying for you that your IUI works.

Thanks again kricket, I'm Praying that tomorrow they will be bigger, I just need to be a little more patient. Is ivf normally the next step after hcg injection?

I went yet again for another scan cd14 and the follicles had still stayed the same size, back tomorrow cd16 for one last scan before they call it a day for this month. Devastated if that happens, why would this happen? What's the chances they will grow some more now?

Omg I went back today and the little 14mm that had stopped growing was now 20mm, best news of the week :-) I had my hcg injection so please let this month be my month! X
