No insurance

Hello I am 29 and I dont have insurance and recently laid off. I have not had a period in over a year therefore not ovualting or anything in that area, does anyone have any info on who I could call or talk to or suggest something to me, I live in MD have tried calling infertility clinics but they charge 220 just to talk to some one.  If anyone can help me with any info I would greatly appreciate it, I am going out my mind right now because I am living in the "unknown" of what could be going on with me and if I will ever be able to conceive and  if I can be "fixed". thanks for reading
good luck to all in your dreams and hopes!!

There are usually free planned parenthood clinics.  They do infertility testing and treatment, pap tests and such.  If you are curious they may be able to work with you.
You may want to consider the life you and your future child may have if you decide to seek fertility treatments without a job or insurance, but at least you may be able to get a few answer there.

Connie gave great advice. You can even have physicals done there if needed. I would give you local planned parenthood a call. Good Luck to you!

When I had an absent period, it was because of a medical problem - hyperprolactenemia.  (A pituitary tumour).  This stopped my ovulation for 2 years, until I was given Dostinex which allowed me to ovulate and conceive.  I am just now pregnant with number 2!

Not to say that this is your specific problem, but it was mine, and sometimes more often happens to others and they do not know.

I had to see an endocrinologist to learn about this.  So while you don't have any insurance, there is really no other way to know for sure medically what is causing the problem, and there are SOOOO many reasons that women have amenorrhoea (no periods).  So, if it is possible, try the medical route first before you go to the fertility clinics.  That would have saved me $120.00 also, if I had of tried that first!  And I do have medical coverage, but fertility was not covered!

Good luck!

im not sure if u have any insurance @ all or not. if not, being that u lost ur job did u try applying for medicaid? or state paid medical insurance (through welfare)? im not sure how it works where u live, however usually they'll accept any insurance when they're diagnosing a pt, it's when u have to receive treatment that they usually require a pt to have private insurance. that might help u while ur temporarily out of work. good luck to u and i hope u find a job better than the last :)...
