No normal period yet, 5th day from when menstrual period supposed to start

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 5 years. We started to try IUI. Our first attempt failed. Our second attempt was on December 15th. I am very regular and get my menstrual period every 28th day.If I have ever been late, has not been over one day...and I get horrible crams. I supposed to got my AF on December 27th, all I got was a drop of brown spot. The 28th I got two brown spots; the 29th when I first went to the bathroom I discharged marroon dried up blood and spotted brown some during the day, at night I discharged a brown pasty discharge. Yesterday I spotted brown during the day and pink at night when I wiped. Today, I have had some marroon discharge again. No regular blood yet. I have had some little crams,like when you expect your period....since before Dec. 27th.  My breast are not sore or feel any other pregnancy symptom. I took a hpt on Friday, Dec.29 and it came out negative; I called my doctor...she was busy so I talked to the nurse and she said that it sounded like I was going to get my period to wait until Tuesday (1/2/07) to see if I got a normal period; if not to go see the doctor.

Does anyone had a similar experience? I am confused...I really want to get preg but I am afraid to get excited or that something may be wrong.

Are you on progesterone by any chance?? This happened to me and the progesterone was just delaying AF.  
Hopefully, it' good news for you, though :)

I too am taking progesterone and it hadn't affected my cycle until this month - I was around 3-4 days late and had awful cramps and starting with very light brown spotting, I too had thought I was pregnant but all tests I took were negative - I just think changes can occur in your cycle due to stuff out of your control and it is VERY frustrating but hang in there!

Any new news since your post? My best friend spotted for 11 days before a positive. Dark blood. YOu might be in luck. Take care of yourself.
