OPK and HCG trigger shot

I have a question: I did 5 IUI (3 on Clomid) and my NP always asked me to use OPK and HCG trigger shot on the same day when I see surge and IUI the next day. after 5 failed IUI I am ready to move on to IVF. I had the IVF consultation last week and my RE told me that it is very unusual to use OPK and HCG at the same time. she said with med OPK can give false + or -. she recommend try one more IUI with injectable. use u/s instead of OPK and when the leading follies reaches 18, 19mm, give the trigger shot, and come in the 3rd day for IUI. This is very different from my previous 5 IUI. can anyone here tells me which practice is more common. I need to make a decision either go with IUI or IVF next cycle. thanks!

I do timed intercourse, not IUI, I do the second,  u/s to see if follicles are ready, trigger if they are, and then have intercourse for three days.   I think with IUI, you do it 36 hours after the trigger, in my drs. office.

36 hrs after trigger is common for IUI and the trigger shot will mess up the OPK.  My RE does u/s monitoring, trigger and then I'm requesting double IUI 12 & 36 hrs after trigger.

thank you so much for your reply. I have no idea why my NP would do things differently. I am always concerned about the timing (I have limited sperm supply) might be off but my NP kept doing the same thing. I guess I am going to do one more IUI with u/s monitoring and trigger shot.
