OPK

I just took the OPK day 10 today negative but I am experiencing pain which doc says is related to ovulation. Last month OPK positive on day 12. Are you suppose to get the pain 2 days prior to ovulation? Or at the time of O? Anyone know. The pain is in my lower abdomen more prominent on one side where I imagine the ovary to be....

It actually varies from woman to woman. Some get ovulation cramps before O, others at the time the egg is release and some will get it after O. So it's kinda hard to say...

Here's what they say on MedlinePlus:

"About 20% of women experience mittelschmerz, or pain associated with ovulation. The pain may occur just before, during, or after ovulation. There are several explanations for the cause of this pain. Just prior to ovulation, follicle growth may stretch the surface of the ovary, causing pain. At the time of ovulation, fluid or blood is released from the ruptured egg follicle and may cause irritation of the abdominal lining. Mittelschmerz may be felt on one side one month, then switch to the opposite side the next month, or it may be felt on the same side for several months in succession."

thanks for looking that up online for me. that is helpful. I am thinking I get the pain before O. I guess to be more specific which may be impossible cuz everyone is different I wonder how long before O for me. that is something I am gonna need to figure out on my own by writing down when I get this pain. Thanks again for your help! I will let you know how it turns out.
