OPK's

Hi Ladies,

So this is my second month doing OPK's for ovulation

First month I used Answer strips and it was very confusing. This month I am using Clearblue Easy Digital (smiley faces)

I am on CD 18 and last time my test line was much darker then it has been all this time

do you think it should be getting darker?

It says you should not use the the tester as your answer but I like to at least see that line.

Take a look

You should only read the test in the first five minutes and then throw them out. Don't compare day to day test.  Most directions are very clear about the results only counting the first five minutes. Usually the test will get darker for 2 days or so.  I would start the baby dancing then.  When you see no second line after having a line, you probably ovulated that day or the next.  Remember the second line starts your 24-48 hour window to predict ovulation. Watch morning temps and as soon as they hit 98 or above, you probably ovulated the day before.

Hi,

I don't take temps as my doc told me not to. But I might next month!

I am familiar with OPK's but wanted to see what others thought.  Thanks for the input!

I know you're not supposed to, but I used to save them and compare, too....so you're not alone ;-) Based on the picture, my guess is that you had your surge either a little bit before or after your day 16 test, since that's the darkest one. Technically, the test line should be as dark or darker than the control line, but you might have just missed it. Some people just have a shorter surge. For a while there, I actually tested twice a day to make sure I didn't  miss it. LOL! I did temp, too, though, and although it does nothing when it comes to giving you a heads up that ovulation is near (like the tests do), it does confirm that you did in fact ovulate after the fact, and I liked that.

... oh, and one more thing, try not to use first morning urine when testing, as LH builds up in your urine during the early morning hours and will be easier to detect a little later in the day.

:-)

thanks for the reply!  I did a test this morning at 7 am just to see and that was my second pee of the day. I get up at 5:30 everyday so i think taking temps might work out for me!

I actually don't think I have ovulated yet and don't think i will but Imma keep testing i think

I tested till CD22 last time and nothing. Then around CD28 when i should have gotten a period i had ovulation like cramps, which i feel a little of today too!

I just think the clomid hasn't worked for me yet

Oh, I see...yeah, you might be right. If you don't ovulate on your current dose, you could always ask to try a higher dosage. Best of luck with everything!

Hi there! I ws also extremely confused with the OPKs with lines and switched on to digital ones with the smileys... My RE had asked me to stop testing after the first positive and i felt it was a good advise as I have noticed that I nevr get a positive more than once anwys...think i have a very short surge:
also, the clear blue easy digitals do say in the instructions that it's ok to test anytime of the day and I ve tried testing the fmu and it did give me a positive :)
but again I sometimes test in the afternoons as well to confirm...
Also wanted to mention that I ovulated really late this month.. Day 26..did have all the ovulation symptoms around day 13 but no positive OPK..
Lots of luck and SSBD to you girl!!!
