Obstructed Fallopian Tubes

Obstructed Fallopian Tubes

Hi I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me.  After trying to conceive for the last 5 years I finally had 2 HSG's done in the last 2 months and both have confirmed that I have both Fallopian tubes obstructed (completely closed shut on the ends).  My Husband and I would like to have a child, but it seems like there may not be any hope for us.  The damage to the Fallopian tubes must have been from my previous marriage where I may have contracted PID without knowing and it healed itself and left scarring on the tubes or a previous surgery I had when I was 19.   I am now 37 years old and I don't know if my only option will be Invitro.   Does anyone know if there's any way to correct this problem?  Possibly Laparoscopy or some other surgery?  Thanks for the advice.

Hey sorry about your news. But fortunately with todays science and technology it is possible for women in our situations to do IVF. I do think that is probably the only option for you. Both of my tubes are blocked. I had a laparascopy, hysteroscopy and HSG. My husband and I were told our only way of conceiving would be IVF which we are in the process of. I wish you so much luck. I know fertility can be so stressful but it sounds like you and your husband really want a child so make sure to check into IVF. You are in my thoughts!!

Hi and Welcome..
I had PID when I was 18yrs old...due to an std I got...I have been trying to concieve (conceive) for over 2yrs and went to an RE in Oct..the doc did a number of routine test( me & dh) and nothing was wrong so he suspected that my tubes were blocked..I had an HSG done and yes both tubes were blocked..so my options were IVF or Laproscopic surgery to try and unblock my tubes..My insurance doesnt cover any infertiltiy procedures but they did cover the surgery..I had the surgery 11\19\07...my RE was able to unblock my left tube but not my right...so now I have one good tube..the next month after the Lap we tried Injections + BD ,didnt work..we decided to take a few months off and try on our own...if it doesnt work then we will be doing IUI next..but we are just happy that we did the surgery since now we have more options to try and get preggers then just IVF..Just wanted to share my story with you to give you hope that if your tubes are blocked they can still try to unblock them...Good Luck to You!!

hi there.

i have one blocked tube that i found out through a HSG. My options are IUI or IVF. It did my head in when they told me my options. I was expecting a drug i could take but that didnt happen. I will be doing IUI in the next month. I think IVF will probably be your best option.
