I just watched the today show and watched the interview with the mother who said 6 embies were used in each of her IVF treatments ( 2 split this time resulting in twins). I jusr had IVF and was intructed to you use 2 embryos
Yeah, I thought it was a poor interview. They didn't talk about much. She claimed she is not selfish because she will "be there" for her children and how many parents can say that! Yeah, well can you "be there" for all 14 you dumb moron? Ugh, she's a bit warped if you ask me. I don't think it is ethical to put that many in and it is not common
with the 8-ies or at home with the 6-ies? Even if the Today show came to her and they did it in the hospital foyer....I dont care. Get your hind end in there and take care of your children....you should not take even 1 minute away right now with babies in Intensive Care or a 6-pack at home missing you, especially for something so frivolous as a TV interview.
are transferred over the age of 35 2-4 can be transferred. So no, it is not common to have that many transfers and it was very unethical. I am sure more will come out on the fertility clinic that allowed this.
Complete interview will be Monday. I agree with you KellyM she is warped in the head.
I agree with others here, how could they put in 6 embryos when it's not allowed. She already 6 kids and she went on to have more. Why wouldn't she when she can stay at home and collect disability. I just heard on CNN that they got information that she has collected over $120k of disability. 14 children!!!! How is going to take care of them?
i too saw part of that interview, i totally agree that something is wrong with that woman. it certainly sounds as thought she has a psych disorder...shouldn't the doctors have questioned her desire to have additional kids when she already had six under age 8 at home. i heard there isn't a father in the picture. does disability pay for fertility treatment? i feel bad for all of those children.
i think the doctor/facility that did her fertility treatment needs investigated. seriously, this mom is not married and doesn't work, she lives with her mom. are these issues not assessed prior to treatment? who do they think is going to pay for and nuture all of her children? and she plans to return to college this fall, what a joke.
I know some insurance companies allow a certain amount for transfer and will only pay for so many sessions. I missed the part where they said she paid for it but she does have the money so most likely she did. Every state has different guidelines and every dr is different. Best wishes to you,
They are supposed to show the full interview on Monday... She didn't say she paid for it, but there was mention of the lawsuit - surprisingly, she has a back injury, but can carry 8 babies?
I agree with you all! I'm so irritated by this woman! How do you spend $15,000+ on more babies when you can't even provide for the six chidlren you have. She lives with her parents! Ugh! Sorry I just had to vent!
I would like someone to explain to me what kind of an IVF doctor would transfer 6 embryos? I think they should limit this from a medical ethics stand point.
This is something that can be controlled. I just don't understand her RE!!
An then I don't understand how it is that they all implanted and stuck!! Then two of them turned into twins!! How does that happen?? I wonder how many eggs they got from her and what her first beta came back as! LOL!
This woman thinks she's being criticized because she's a single mom....I think it's more of shock that her RE transferred the 6 in the first place.
I begged my RE to transfer 3 and he wouldn't ....my clinic limits two in the case of good eggs. I just don't get.
I mean she's not very smart in the aspect that she is not earning a lot of money now and that she has 14 kids. That's got to be a nuthouse. The kids are probably all sleeping on each other. I know I would not want to share a room with 4 or 5 brothers and sisters.
I'm sure she's getting some big bucks for exclusive interview and I'm sure this woman will make lots of money and mark my words.....She will be on the cover of PEOPLE magazine!!!
I think this woman is insane!!!!!
By the way if you see the interview she looks damn good for just having six babies and being just a couple weeks post partum!!
I wish her and her family all the blessing in the world. Who knows maybe one of her children will find the cure for cancer.
Another thing that irritates me about this situation is she's going to make some serious bucks with interivews, TV appearances and magazines. Then she'll get all kinds of free stuff and if all the kids make it they will have a Discovery Channel special about them. She's going to get rich off of all the endorsement.
I wish society would just leave it a lone. I really find this shocking absolutely shocking. And again I think that RE who transferred 6 should have his license removed or at least go in front of the board of medical examiners in California. Grrrr.
