Officially "Unexplained" :(

Hi Ladies,

Well, DH and I are now officially in the unexplained infertility category. I'm recovering from my laprascopy and feeling like it's unfair I feel so bloated when there are so many holes poked in me right now- shouldn't some gas be seeping out somewhere?! :)

Anyway, they found nothing wrong. Good, I guess, but confusing. My doc thinks I should try IUI and injectables. After the last 3 rounds of Clomid led to 2 breast sonograms and a biopsy (ok, so I don't know if there's a link b/w hormones and benign breast disease, but the timing was sure odd) I am thinking I'll take a break from drugs for a while, try some acupuncture and holistic meds.

Has anyone gone that route with any success?

Thanks. I've been thinking of you ladies although I haven't been online in a while.

31 years old.
Trying 1.5 years for 1st kiddo.
3 rounds 50 mg Clomid.
No pregnancies yet.

I have a friend who has unexplained infertility. Her husband has no issues and they got pregnant after the first IUI. Good luck!

We'd eventually try IVF, but at 31, I'm thinking I have a little time to try other things first. I'm very glad it's there in case we need it.

Quinn's Momma, my doc had just started me on a 4th dose of Clomid at 100mg when I found my first breast lump that had to be biopsied, so I stopped the Clomid. The sudden problems with fibrocystic breasts (I've done self exams for years because Mom is a breast cancer survivor and I never found anything until after the Clomid) have made me scared about hormones.

I've always done OPKs and got positives, although I ovulate slightly late (day 16-17 is the norm). So I guess I was just put on Clomid to see if it would do "something"- I was told it could regulate my period length, which ranges from 28-34 days.

I know someone who was unexplained & did the IUI & didn't work. She did IVF first time & It worked.  The little girl is around 2 now.  They have tried 2 additional frozen attmepts of IVF which failed.
The sooner the better in my eyes...I wish you lots of luck.

Did the doctor ever say why he did not increase your dose of Clomid?  Or did the 50mg work for you and you did ovulate every month on it?

Good luck, Nat, I will be hoping your IVF works out.

So glad you got your baby, Tarobinc, and that IUI helped out. If acupuncture just helps me destress, it'll be worth it. Even before we started trying, I was a tense person- can't be a good thing.

Good for you diagnosing yourself. I find that my doc doesn't seem interested in looking at my charts, he just says I have vague ovulation probs and says that the quickest way to pregnancy is clomid, injectibles, and IUI. Which it well may be. Maybe a few months from now I'll be asking you questions.

i went the IUI route and after two full tries (the first one was stopped because my ovarian cysts started growing from the Clomid) we concieved Sophia.

We tried for a year without help and then went for the IUI.  I have PCOS, though, and the drugs really helped me. In fact, I felt great on them.  I guess my hormones were balanced correctly.

I found that I wasn't ovulating when I started charting my temps.  I had PCOS dx after I brought that to my doctor's attention.  I didn't really have any other outward signs of it; even my glucose levels were ok but when they did an sonogram of my ovaries, the cysts were seen.

I did Reiki during my year with out help when we were TTC. If anything, it helped me relax and stay focused.  I stopped once I got pregnant.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

hi ive been diagnoised with unexplained fertitilty, 10 years of ttc, and just had my 2nd ivf cycle which failed too. looking at having 3rd cycle in jan 2010. woth assisted hatching, as the embryo has to break through the zona (outer egg) to implant, this is where i think the problem lays, the zona is to thick for the embryo to break out. all the best
