Okay, so I admit I've been obsessing this cycle

Even though I don't think I have a chance of being pg, I admit I've been obsessing this cycle - again! I've got to stop this nonsense. It does not help me get pregnant! When I start IUI with acupuncture, I must not think this way. I really believe the obsessing keep us from conceiving!

That said, here are my "symptoms" (hee hee)
~I'm 8 dpo today
~Sore boobs (sorer than usual, both left and right, usually just the right)
~Cramps for the last 3-4 days
~Really achy lower back (never have this)
~Headaches every day for the last 3-4 days (could be allergies)
~Dizziness (had this 3 times, like a swooping feeling)
~Hungry (even after recently eating)

I have had a bunch of these every month, so it's likely absolutely nothing. I can't wait to do IUI and acupuncture. I'm really excited! C'mon nurse, call me already!

Hi there, Thanks for the info. Good thing is, I know about all that, but unfortunately, my RE doesn't prescribe Femara because she says compared to Clomid, it doesn't work. I think that's a load of c rap, but she won't prescribe it and I don't know who else to ask. I want to take it, but I will have to find an RE who prescribes it and see them instead. I'm going to try out this one cycle on Clomid and if my LP is really short again or it doesn't work, I will change to an RE that will prescribe Femara.

Hi!!  Just to let you know in case you don't already, My ob/gyn had me on clomid 100mg for 3 mos then when we went to the RE he put me on Letrozole/Femara.(I was on that for 4mos with 3 iui with no BFPs) My RE said that clomid had negative side effects for conception and Femara didn't.  Clomid affects the lining of the uterus and thickens the cervical mucus and femara does not. The only side effect I had on femara was headaches and some hot flashes. But if you have questions just ask. Also my RE is at East Tenn State University and 1 iui is a little over $700 thats for everything but the cost of femara which was $60. I believe for an iui with injectables it is about $1500. My RE's price list is on their web site . If you r interested in seeing their price list to compare just let me know and i'll get you the web site.

Oh, you totally have my good thoughts and prayers. Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. You'll be in good hands at BIDMC. We are so lucky to have such amazing hospitals where we live. Everything will be all right.

Hi Sue, Yes its triplets when we went to see the hb we saw there was 3.  I have spoken to 3 diff Dr's and they all think that instead of jeapordizing all the babies its best to go for selective reduction.  Tomorrow we have our appt with a high risk Ob at BIDMC.  I am very nervous.  Please wish me luck and pray for me

Oh, that's kinda cool. I like that concept! :0)

Forget over 35, I'm over 40, even worse! (Said with a smile)

I'm doing acupuncture, too, so hopefully the combination will do the trick. I did acupuncture with no meds for 5 months with no success. I think the 2 together will be much better.

Hi Sue - Sorry. In one cycle of meds and two follies, it's = two cycles w/ no meds. Especially if some of our eggs are not so good after 35. You double the chances of getting pregnant. Some day two follies = "double the odds" but others say it's like "going to bat twice" in one month. Good luck.

Hey there,
We're not doing IUI because my RE said there would only be a 3% difference between it and BDing, so we opted to BD and save the $350. I bought 2 brands of OPKs, Answer and some digis. Hopefully one will work for me. They usually don't.

I typically produce one follie on my own and two with Clomid.

What do you mean "trying twice in one month?" I don't quite understand.

Sue with Clomid or any other drug. the theory is that even with just 2 follies, you are trying twice in one month. So that is why even 2 is helpful. Do you need an IUI or is this just a way to boost the odds?

OMG! You're having triplets?? I thought you were having twins. Did they just find another baby in there? I saw your docs are suggesting selective reduction. Whatever you decided is right. You and the babies just need to be safe, no matter how many there are.

I see Dr. Tsay on Wednesday and I'm really looking forward to it. I see him again on 10/7 and I should be Oing within a couple days after.

Be well...

Hi Sue

I don't believe in psychic stuff but at a street fair in NYC I had  a tarot club reading and she told me that I would be pregnant with multiples by end of year and here I am pregant with trips.  Like Amy I got pregnant the same month, it was 2 weeks before my transfer

Ok Sue since you admitted it, I'll admit too. I'm obsessing, said I wouldn't but I am.  I am 1 dpo, and I *think* (don't know, no monitoring) that I may have had more than one follie on my own, anyway, had O pain first on the left side and 8 hours later on the right side, so maybe.  It is a loooong 2WW but I am expecting BFN and hope I am wrong!

Hey Sue!  I just saw this thread!  I didn't know you were taking the IUI route!  Awesome and good luck!!!

I wanted to remind you of what happened to me after my visit with the psychic...she told me I was going to be pregnant with twin boys.  I left that visit feeling refreshed, renewed, and RELIEVED because I thought "OK, WHEW, IT IS IS IS IS IS GOING TO HAPPEN FOR ME!"  It WILL happen!  I got my BFP within that same month.  Coincidence?  I don't know...I'm pregnant with a single GIRL...LOL...but I think the reassurance that I CAN and WILL get pregnant helped me relax enough for it to happen.  Does that make sense?

Best of luck sweetie!  :)

So get this, my REs office called this morning and said they do not prescribe Femara because it provides no benefits. Can you friggin' believe that?!?! They said to call my OB's office to see if they'll prescribe it. I am so pis sed! What idiots! I'm going to call my gyn and my OB and if they won't do it I'll ask our family friend who's an OB if he'll do it.

Alikat1205: thank you for telling me about your follies. 2.5mg, got it.

Tina: I totally know what you mean. I don't think I'm going to stop obsessing until we have a baby.

I had a Tarot reading today. I just did it for fun. The first thing she said when I sat down, was, "You have 2 boys" I said, "No, we don't have any, but we lost a baby boy'". She said his energy is very present and very much around me. I smiled big when I heard
that. She said she wasn't sure I would get pg in 2009, but that I would in 2010. She didn't clearly see a girl, but she said we would have 2 kids, likely both boys.

I don't necessarily believe any of it, but it was fun to do. You know what? I actually think with meds and acupuncture, I will be pg by the end of the year :0)

How's that for positive thinking???

I took Femara 2.5 mg prescribed by RE, and got FOUR follies! I cannot believe your RE is not aware of this drug.

Hi Sue, I know how it is, trying not to obsess. I said after the last fet, I wasn't going to even think about bfps again. If it happens, great. But, reality is it won't. But, here I am 5dpo and really thinking I have a chance, lol.

My dr is also around $3500 for IUI w/inject. Most insurance, even if it does cover infertility (which mine doesn't), will not cover it after a certain age or after a high FSH report. They just wont cover a dime. It *****. I pay so much for insurance and don't get anything from it I really need covered. I got lucky and had a cyst, so my dr wrote up a monitoring u/s as checking on the cyst, so the ins covered that one. Otherwise, they wont.

Bfps have a funny way of showing up when you give up. I hope it's your turn :)  Love you girl!!!

I really cannot believe they would not know what femara is.  That is virtually impossible, especially if it is at a major Boston hospital.  Maybe the nurse was new and did not know what she was talking about and you can to talk to a doctor instead???  It is also called letrozole so you might want to mention that.  It is not like it is new or anything.  I got prego with it over 2 years ago.  If this is a major clinic I am positive they will have a protocol for femara in place.  If you call back and they still don't know what it is you better change clinics because that is not right!!!!!!!!
Best of luck - I hope you get your BFP this cycle.

I have a feeling I'm going to be taking Clomid since my Drs office has never even heard of Femara. Morons!

We have officially been diaganosed with unexplained infertility (UGH!), although DH has a slight morphology problem.  With no meds I get one follie a cycle.

Yep, Femara is taken the same way as Clomid.  CD3-7.  And, like Clomid, it can make you O later then normal.  Like I said, the only side effects I noticed were the hot flashes. . . . they highly amused DH when I jumped out of bed one evening fanning myself and ran outside to cool off - LOL

Okey-Dokey! The nurse at my REs said she has never heard of Femara and she will run it past the Dr. tomorrow. This is very strange to me.

On another bizarre note, every time I rest my left elbow on my desk, I get an electrical shock up my hand. How freakin' weird is that? Why can't that be a pg symptom???

When do you take Femara? Same as Clomid?

Thanks for routing for me! I'm routing for you, too!

I'll see if I can take the highest dosage, too. How many follies do you produce without meds? Do you have diminished ovarian reserve? I do. It started when I turned 40. I'm now 41, turning 42 in December. *gulp* Hopefully my RE prescribes Femara. I've heard good things about it from others, too.
