Out sick after a laparoscopy for ectopic pregnancy

I'm new to this site and I hope I am doing this right. I just wanna know how many days or weeks do you have to stay off work after a laparoscopy for ectopic pregnancy. I was told I will be fine in six weeks time but I still can't carry something heavy, I am almost reaching my 6th week. I was just wondering how I can perform at work if I cannot totally bend and cannot lift heavy stuff, even carrying my hand bag sometimes is not a pleasant feeling. I am walking a lot, but I have to rest in between because it will make my stomach numb and a bit heavy, sometimes I feel some pinching inside. So, I don't know if I will be able to go back to work after 6 weeks.
Does anybody have any experience in this area?
