My cycle ranges from 27-31 days. I charted this month and I think I ovulated on day 16, but could have been day 15 because I slept at a friends house and forgot my thermometer that day. My question is: Does ovulation always happen exactly midway through a cycle? Or can it be a day or two after the mid-cycle point? And if my cycle winds up being an odd number of days (say, 31) when would you suspect that I'd ovulate?
I did use a OPK and it was positive on day 14 so I could have O'd on day 15 or 16.
Ovulation can happen at anytime during your cycle, usually though it does happen around the middle of your cycle, I have heard day 14 is usually when you ovulate but Ive also heard that to be inaccurate. Try using a OPK and start it on the 11th day of your cycle and prob finish on the 20th day. You should find your window there.
you usually ovulate around 14 days before you AF comes, so if you have a 31 day cycle, you O'd on day 17. Day 14 is just a standard number used because the average cycle length is 28 days. The problem is, you only find out after you get AF what day you did, so it's best to use OPK's like nwhite said. Start testing on day 10 or 11 and test until you get a pos. Good luck!
Everybody differs....
I ovulate on day 14...but only have a 12 day luteal phase (so my AF starts 12days after ovulation) so mines almost mid cycle. lol . close enough.
Everyones cycles (and phases) are different ... and can differ month to month.
Ovulation is 12-16 days PRIOR (an average of 14) to your period, which means you cannot guarantee the calculation forward (only looking backward) unless your cycle is always the exact same. I.e. If you start af on 11/30, you would have ovulated between 11/14 and 11/18.
(BBT) and use an ovulation prediction kit (OPK). The ovulation prediction kit will advise 24-48 hours BEFORE you ovulate, and the BBT will advise AFTER ovulation. This way you can confirm it via two different methods. Best wishes!
