Has anyone here ever used opk to test for ovulation, had all the tests come up negative, yet still end up pregnant?
I'm either not ovulating, not taking the test right, or I ovulate way later than most! I'm on cd 20, and still not dectected a surge. I've only been off the pill since January 28th, so maybe ovulation just hasnt kicked in yet. (I've heard it can take a couple months for a cylce to regulate) I just assumed I was ovulating, because my af remained to normal immediately after stopping the pill.
I had a similar situation with the OPK's. When we first started really TTC and it didn't happen for a few months, I started charting my BBT and also tried the OPK's. My BBT chart had a nice curve every month (and my af was pretty consistent), so I assumed I was ovulating, but I could never get a positive test. We had fertility testing (bloodwork, HSG, SA) done about a year ago and everything came back looking good. When I asked my doctor about the OPK's, she said that I could either not be ovulating or ovulating, but not good quality eggs. I started on Clomid last fall and got my first positive OPK ever! I also had an ultrasound during one of those cycles and saw that I was definitely producing follicles
. We didn't get pregnant, so now we are onto Femara and I'm still getting the positive tests and I just had another ultrasound done to confirm ovulation. So basically, in my case, no one was really sure the cause, but the medication has definitely made a difference and ensured that I am ovulating.
In your case, it could be that your body is taking some time adjusting. How long are your cycles? Ovulation should occur in between 10 to 16 days before the end of your cycles. Maybe you should try the OPK's for another cycle or two and see what happens. It might also help to start a BBT chart and see if you are getting a temperature
Thanks for the info. My cycles are typically 31 days, and being on cd 20, I really should have ovulated. I've heard doctors say that not all OPKs are reliable, so I'm hoping it's just user error or somthing of that sort.
I didn't ovulate for three months after stopping birth control. It can take a few cycles to get regulated. My doctor was also going to prescribe Clomid to get me to ovulate if I didn't start Oing on my own. I do suggest doing BBT to look for thermal shifts to identify o. Fertility Friend is a great help in that area.
Do any of you know how long after stopping the pill and not ovulating should I see a doctor to get ovulation started up again? As I said in my previous post, I've only been off the pill since the end of January.
Jenandjon - You mentioned you didn't ovulate for 3 months after stopping birth control. Did it also take that long for your normal AF to come, or were you having AF without ovulation?
