PCOS + Clomid

Hi! I've been diagnosed with polycistic ovaries. Doc has put my on clomid. First 2 months were brilliant! Regular periods at last! And now I'm 3 weeks late... I've had the cramps, mood swings, headaches the lot! But no proper blood! I've done tests and all came bak negative! Went to the doctors today and all he could say was "maybe your pregnant". Seriously mate... I'm on a fertility drug with dodgy ovaries... So I'm still none the wiser! I'm starting to worry my body is giving up on me! I know I'm young, but we've been having unprotected sex for 3 years now and still no baby?? I thought my luck had come in when I was late... Has anyone had any luck with these drugs? Oh I should probably mention I'm an over-weight smoker too! Although hitting the gym 3/4 times a week!!! Sorry for the essay of a question! Would love some advice as my doctor is useless!!

I have PCOS also and i had my first round of clomid this month. Is your doctor going to do any blood work yet? Did your doctor give you an oltrasound or anything? It sounds like you might need to see a new doctor. Are you taking any other medications with the clomid. I am on metformin and provera and clomid all to help get my cycle going or else i wont get it, and to help me ovulate. Did you even ovulate the last two months on clomid? are you using OPKs?

I know sometimes you don't get your period while on clomid so they give you drugs to start it so you can move onto the next cycle. I got pregnant on my third round of clomid but it ended in a miscarriage, then i took a break to find out that the month after my miscarriage i was pregnant all on  my own, i think clmoid may have just helped my body understand what it was supposed to be doing. Your story almost mirrored mine! I too am a 23yr overweight smoker with PCOS and my DH and I TTC for 3 years. I was give clomid for 5 cycles and added metformin to the last 2 and low and behold I got my BFP a month ago. I truly thought it would never happen for us and had lost all hope of the clomid working (it was my final round before looking into injections and IVF). I would ask your dr. to try adding metformin, it did wonders for me. Also we used PreSeed, the only sperm friendly lubricant on the market. It helps them swim better and live longer, and it balances out your PH levels down below. I promise you that all of this pain and heartbreak will be worth it in the end when you see those 2 pink lines and hear that heart beat the first time. I am hoping that your doctor gave you a blood test. That way he can confirm pregnancy or not. Have you taken a HPT yet? Clomid worked wonders for me and we got our BFP after the second cycle. When they tell you that the chances of multiples increases BELIEVE THEM. I never thought it would happen to me but I am not pregnant with twins. I was double blessed! I also used Preseed which helped a bit with the dryness that Clomid created. Good luck and I hope it works out for you!

Jroxy: I had to have blood tests on day 23 of my first 2 cycles with clomid. They gace me an ultrasound when they were testing for PCOS, and a Hycosy (which is the most uncomfortable scan ever!) I haven't been advised to take anything else, but the only thing my doctor is interested in is that I'm over weight. That's all he talks about! To the point of tears! I've finally come on, which is a huge weight off my mind so I'm on my 3rd cycle of Clomid... What's an OPK? xxx

lin_z_ttc1: Wow congratulations! It's nice to know other big girls have managed to get their BFP!  I'll certainly get some of that lube! Sounds amazing! And I'll talk to my doctor about the other drug! I know what you mean... I took a test the other day, not realising it wasn't working and I saw the word pregnant! Unfortunately it flashed not as well... Huge heart ache! But I can't wait to see that magic word or those 2 little lines! I will let you know! :) What does SSBD mean? I'm sooo not with the times! xxx

lil_lady25: I took a test and it was negative. The doctor wasn't interested in taking and blood from me... Really? That's amazing!!! I'd love twins!!! Both my husband and I are in line for twins, and hopefully with the help of Clomid it'll work! :D Thanks hun! I'll definately buy some Preseed! Thanks! xxx
