PCOS, clomid and all the above

Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS-insulant resistant about 2 years ago. I'm 26, and yes I am slightly overweight. I have 2 step sons who I try to keep busy with but exercise, work, and Im still going to school just don't add up all each day. About 2 months ago I finally got an HSG test, and the biopsy done. Everything came out all clear, which made me feel good. My re gave me clomid, and which I am done with the first month of it. I am grouchy, tired, have extreme heart burn, tummy problems (which I had in the beginning of taking metformin), will cry on a drop of a dime. Is this normal? I dont have fertility coverage with my insurance so I can't go into the doctor to see if I'm ovulating the way I'm supposed to, but the little otc ovulation test gave me a sign earlier in the week that I was. Is there anything special anyone would recommend to help trying to concieve? I've been trying to eat healthier, and I want to lose weight but there aren't enough hours in the day for me to be able to run a marathon, and I can't afford a gym membership with just paying for summer camp. My man is all for a baby, and is happy that were trying. Is there anyway of knowing if clomid is working or just if you get preggo it works? I've seen on here everyone does the abbrev and I'm not good at that, sorry for writing everything out! Good luck and thank you for anyone who responds.

Hey, well I am on the same boat with you. I was test pos for PCOS when I was 15, and I am now 24. I was just put back on Metformin and Clomid since me and hubby are not TTC. Now PCOS sometimes give your a POSITIVE OPK when you are truly not Oing. Clomid also dose that aswell. It has been researched that some women with PCOS will have a false positive with OPK. I have been told to take my temp every morning first thing, that may also help with you with determining when you are Oing. I know how hard it is with eating healthy and going to school. I am doing all that! But eating healthy and getting positive is that way to go. There are "diets" that will help women with PCOS and who are TTC. Are you still on Metformin? Clomid has it side effects. Hotflashes, headachs, tireds, heart burn, aches, pains..I mean the list goes now. There are wondering groups on here with women like us, who have PCOS and who are TTC. So best of luck to you..and SSBD to you!

I agree with luv, get a progesterone level and that will tell you for sure if you ovulated.  Ideally you should have an ultrasound each cycle but without insurance that may be hard, I don't have fertility coverage either but my insurance covers ultrasounds each cycle, give them a call!  You should really be monitored closely with clomid, in some women with PCOS it can make your cysts grow like crazy!!  I did three unmonitored cycles of clomid and had almost 100 cysts!!!  after switching doctors a few times i found out the clomid is NOT a good drug for PCOSers!  Also some of us have naturally high LH so we test falsely positive on OPK's, use digital to be sure (they are safe with PCOS).  I tested positive on OPK's through 5 cycles of clomid and I never ovulated!  Good luck hopefully this round worked and you won't have to worry about all this.

Have you been Tracking your BBT? (Basal Body Temperature?). I'm about your age, I'm 27, I also have Pcos and also am a little on the heavier side. I was also on Clomid for 3 cycles. Did an OBGYN prescribe it to you? If so, you can get a progesterone blood test done to see if you have ovulated. Also by tracking your BBT you can tell if you have ovulated. But once your temp has spiked it is more than likely too late and ovulation has already occured. Good luck!
