PCOS and ttc

I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about pcos? I was told about a year ago that I had it..I read up on it, but it is just so stressful!! I was put on metformin 500mg 3 times a day....got pregnant the next month, but miscarried about a week of being pregnant:(  Nothing has happened since. I bought one of those clear plan monitors that are like $200.00 and it says that I am ovulating...My gyno didn't even have an ultrasound done to see how bad my pcos is, but my family dr ordered one...what is the normal size of the ovaries, uterus and endometrial stripe suppose to be?? My right ovary is 3.4 x 2.3 x3.0 cm the left one s 3.6 x 2.7 x 2.1 cm...the uterus is 7.5 x 3.4 x 3.9 cm and the endometrial stripe is .7 cm....my sister...mom...and niece all had enometriosis, is that something else I should be concerned with?? Anyway has anyone with pcos had any luck with having children and how did you do it? I'd appreciate ANY help or advice......Thanks

I have pcos and I found out about two months ago but I have had a feeling that I have had it for years and I have been showing symptoms since I was 11 (which is when I started getting my period).  I am very sorry for you loss, but there is hope out there.  Have you gone to see a specialist of any kind other than your regular ob like a Reproductive endocronologist.  My ob was never able to figure out what was wrong with me so he sent me to an RE who diagnosed me with PCOS.  Like you I was put on Metformin 3 pills once a day (extended release).  He brought on my cycle with provera and then he had me take clomid days 3-7 and every few days had me come in for an ultrasound to see how my follicles were growing to see if I ovulate.  To make a long story short I got pregnant on the first shot and I am not 8 weeks 3 days.  I know it doesnt work that quickly for everyone out there, but atleast you know there is hope.  I don't know your weight situation, but I was 40 lbs overweight so my doctor suggested i loose some weight because it will help me get pregnant and stay pregnant.  I did loose 10 lbs.  I wish you lots of luck and please keeps us updated.

dont worry about it as much as you are. i am 26 and i just found out four months ago that i have pcos. i was scared cause of all the scary websites on it. dont do too much online research. my doctor says they make it alot scarier than it is. my first pregnancy was about 3 years ago. i was with my husband for a while before we got pregnant so i though i might have a hard time getting pregnant cause we never used protection. so we didnt waste time the first time and went to a infertility specialist. she didnt check me for pcos or anything. just did a sperm count with my husband. she put me on clomid 50mg and got pregnant the first month. now my daughter is 2 and a half and although i havent had unprotected sex to see if i can conceive on my own, my period was very irregular lately and i went in to er becuse of bad ovary pain and they found a cyst size of a golfball. my doctor decided to remove it and thats when they found out i have pcos. then she put me on provera for two months and my period became regular. this month, i decided its time to have another baby so i took clomid 50mg and yesterday i went in for us to see if im ovulating. she said yes and gave me an injection to make sure i will ovulate. bad mood swings last night.  so we'll see what happens. what i am trying to say is that dont stress it. theres always a way. pcos isnt that bad. my doctor never even mentioned metmorfin . good luck

No I haven't tried going to a reproductive endocrinologist...my ob really didn't even seem that concerned...I don't know..I have an appointment on the 27th and this is the first time I have seen her in a year...the weight situation.I was about 191 and now I am down to 155, so I think it has ALOT to do with the metformin, cause I still eat everything that I did then..the metformin really helps I am pretty much on schedule and everything...I am doing okay with the loss at this point, it's just so hard when all you ever dreamed about was having kids and having a miscarriage is pretty rough in the beginning, but it seems to get better day by day..I am so glad to hear that you are pregnant...yeah I know that it's different with everyone, but like you said atleast I know there is hope :) I think that I have had it for years too...Never had insurance til I got married so that is how I found out...because we haven't used protection in almost 5 years, so I knew something was wrong...I think the reason that I feel so down about this is because my husband is 9 years older than me so I feel by the time I am able to, he will start having problems...that'd be my luck...Thanks for the hope...You don't know how much it means to hear a success story :) A bit of relief ....I wish you well with the baby ;) and same to you keep us updated.

It is so nice to hear all these success stories :)  Now that I actually heard people that are going through the same thing I am and have had babies, I won't stress about it as bad...I just have doubts about my gyno....she just seems so uninterested in the whole thing!! I go see her the 27th so we'll see.... Thank you so much for sharing your story...I really appreciate it...Keep me updated on any news :)  And thanks for the luck..

I'm 24, was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago, but i've had symptoms for atleast 12 years. I was on birth control from the age of 13 thru 20 so I never thought of any problems because of the birth control keeping everything "normal". My husband and I have been TTC for a little over 3 years now. We were trying naturally, and after a while that didn't work so we went to the doctor and then we tried provera and clomid 50 mg twice about a year ago and then put it on hold for a little while. Things were getting a little too stressful. I was constantly looking online for answers, calling my OBGYN with questions. It was literally taking over my life, I needed to stop. 3 months ago we started trying again. Provera and clomid 50 mg. The first month I went for an ultrasound on day 14 and everything looked normal, but I didnt show any signs of ovulation. The 2nd month was the same. This month though, I did ovulate and showed a collapsed follicle in my right ovary. So now its just a waiting game to see if i'm pregnant. If not, then i'm moving on to 100 mg of clomid. Keeping my fingers crossed, for myself and every one else out there in the same position as me. I will say one thing, this website has helped me in soo many ways, finding people going thru the same stuff. The only advice I can give is don't stress. I started to tell myself if its supossed to happen, it will. Good luck!
