PIO shots vs prog suppositories?

Hello! i was wandering what yalls experience was between the suppositories and the progesterone shots?? i was using the suppositories for almost every cycle, but last pregnancy when my progesterone started dropping we switched to the PIO and my serum progesterone seemed to get higher that way but miscarried anyways.. anyhow this cycle was the first full cycle i've used PIO shots.. and i'm starting to spot and cramp like AF will be here (but i have BFN today- 12dpiui) i never spotted or started AF until three days after stopping the progesterone supp. so i wander if my uterus isn't getting enough progesterone with the shots?? i know the shots can make your serum prog higher, but it doesn't necessarily mean your utuerus is getting it all.. any thoughts or experiences?? just thinking about my future cycles if i should go back to suppositories.THANKS!

My RE prefers the suppositories, as well, even in IVF cycles.

My RE prefers the suppositories since it really gets the progesterone where its needed the best (from what research has shown) PIO will make your serum progesterone look good, but you cant be gauranteed that its in your uterus at the right level (from what i understand anyways) but after using the vag capsules (aka suppositories is what i call them) for so many cycles and not being able to bd during the tww or when we got preg, i wanted to try the shots (also during my second pregnancy i was spotting, so i was -sorry TMI- bleeding some of the suppositories out, so i felt like i neded to switch to shots)   if you use the PIO deifntely do what juanana said... warm up the area after. i didn't do that the first week or so and had huge knots in my muscles and it was OUCH! once i had to inject back into the same knots...but i hear heat really helps..GOOD LUCK!  and thanks girls!

The shots are no walk in the park, but you get used to them. To ease the sting of them, my DH and I have taken to icing the area, then doing the shot and placing a warm towel on the area afterwards...I also place the PIO bottle under my boobie to help "warm" the liquid so it will go in a litle easier!

Good luck to you!

I just saw your post after I did mine.  I am in the same dilemma.  My RE says I can use PIO or Progest vag tablets but not suppositories after IVF...not sure what to do.  Are the shots really bad?
