Please help me, I just started taking Progesterone pills!

I have not had a period since April, I started to take Progesterone pills yesterday and will be taking them for 14 days. My doctor told me to test for pregnancy before taking it next month, I have been reading that you should test for pregnancy before going off it. Because going off the Progesterone will cause the lining of the uterus to shed.

I really want a baby and don't want to kill a fetus by doing it wrong.

Can someone please explain this to me?

Thanks for all you help.

That does make sense. Thanks for explaining it to me. I just want to have a health baby again. I hope that this will help me out.

No, it doesn't make you ovulate. In fact, it can actually prevent ovulation if taken too early in your cycle. That's why it's important to only use it in the second part of your cycle, after ovulation. But in your case, right now, since you haven't had a period since April, it's being used to "fool" your body into thinking it has ovulated, and therefore bring on your next period. Hope that makes sense :-)

Oh. Does the pregesterone pill make you ovulate?

I don't think I know how it all works.

For future cycles, if you take it after ovulation, you should be fine. I think lmcrt meant for this cycle, since you haven't had a period since April.

How can I take a test before I take it if I am taking it from day 14-28 in the cycle?

You should always take a pregnancy test before starting provera to bring down a menses, becuase if you are prego then you shouldn't take the provera. It's just a precaution.

Did your doctor do a blood test? Maybe you could do a home pregnancy test on the last day of the pills...just to make sure. However, if you are pregnant, going off progesterone will only shed the lining if you're natural progesterone is low (the pregnancy would cause you to produce progesterone too). But just to make sure, I would probably test on that last day...unless you've started your period already, of course. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with your cycles. Hopefully the progesterone will kick it back into gear so you can start TTC again soon!
