Hi everyone. Thought I would give you an update. For a quick overview - Two miscarraiges last year (both blighted ovums). I am six weeks preggo now. Had labs drawn (HCG and Progesterone) last week and my HCG levels looked great (1999 then 4808) but my progesterone was low (only 8). Had two ultrasounds (last one this past monday) and both only showed a yolk sac. The good news is, is that my GS and YS are growing at a normal rate but the doctor is concerned that we have not seen a fetal
pole yet. Thinks it is probably blighted ovum number 3 for me *sniffle*. Has anyone been in this situation before that they can relate their story to me for some hope and comfort? Thanks so much.
************SUPER STICKY BABY DUST TO YOU ALL********************
The doctor did put me on progesterone suppliments (prometrium 100 mg suppositories 2 x a day) but I didn't start taking it until my 5 wk of pregnancy. He suspects luteal phase defect because of my low progesterone results from all three pregnancies. I am going in tomorrow for another U/S to make sure that it is a blighted ovum and to discuss clomid and progesterone suppliments to see if that helps with me next pregnancy. Thanks so much for your concern. Lets just hope and pray that this pregnancy is a successful one!!!
I'm so sorry your having to go through this! I'm currently going through my 2nd m/c in a row (both blighted ovums). I talked to my dr. about checking my progesterone levels (they had only ever tested my hcg levels) because some people I know have had reaccuring b/o's and had problems with prog. My dr. kind of blew it off and basically said just try again and then we'll check if you have another m/c. So I'm currently making another appt. with a different dr. that told me they should check that before trying again. I hope your dr. is wrong and when you go in again they will see something. It's heartbreaking to keep going through m/c's one after another. Keep your head
I am sorry you have had to go through the heartache of having blighted ovums. I know from experience that they say it is a rare thing to have more than one, especially in a row. I wish your doctor had taken your progesterone levels beginning with pregnancy #1. That is what my doctor did and that is how he came to the realization of luteal phase defect because my progesterone level has never been over 8.5 during a single pregnancy. Hopefully your new doctor will be able to guide you through the miscarraiges and you will have a successful pregnancy. Sticky baby dust.
