Hi Ladies, I was so happy to have found you all. I've been racking my brain for the past week trying to find an inkling of hope, but haven't seen any threads past the year 2004! Anyhoo, here's my problem: I was diagnosed with PCOS. After weeks on Metformin, one week of Clomid, one shot and progesterone inserts at three time a day, I had my IUI on 4/24/08. The first day of my last cycle was around April 5. The procedure proved successful and I was told I was pregnant on May 8. My HCG's were not doubling as expected, but were still increasing: 5/10 - 256, 5/12 - 553, 5/14 - 1070 and 5/15 - 1524 and 5/18 - ~ 1800. I had my first ultrasound on May 19 and the fertility doc told me he wasn't confident that I would have a viable pregnancy, and gave me a diagnosis of probably blighted ovum pregnancy. He referred me for a follow up a more sensitive sonogram on 5/22. The Radiologist said that the gestational
sac was too small to measure. My question is: is it possible that I am way too early to see a sac? If the IUI was on 5/24, how many weeks pregnant would I be today? My doctor said there was no point in getting further beta tests and to just wait two weeks for a follow up sonogram. I'm really trying to hold on to as much hope as I can, but I want to be realistic too. Can anyone give me some advice? Thank you so much!
sack was too small as well. My OB decided to wait a couple more weeks to do another sonogram and b/w. At 9-10 weeks we were forced to do a d&c. I wish i had a better outcome to share. My doc said that my baby stopped growing very early in the pregnancy but my body just never got the message so my hcg kept going up. The best news that came from that experience was that i COULD get pregnant! And since getting pregnant is half the battle, I had some hope. They say that blighted ovums are very common
,women who do not undergo fertility treatment most of the time do not even know they had one.
The good news is that you got pregnant.I know how hard it is but do not loose hope.

I haven't had a blighted ovuam, but it sounds like you would only be about 4 weeks pregnant. If you had your IUI on 4/24, then you would be 4 weeks and a few days. I think Cheesecake (from this board) had a scare and didn't see much on her 1st U/S at 5 weeks, but now there's a heartbeat
I would ask your doctor how far along they are saying you are. I had 5 ultrasounds up until 6 weeks, 3 days and it wasnt until the last on that they saw anything viable (heartbeat). The other four were showing behind because my doctor was saying that I was at least a week ahead of where I actually am. Also, are you sure that you ovulated at the same time that you had your IUI, is it possible that maybe you ovulated later..... that would make you even further behind. I had a lot of drama and stress, and all for nothing. I would just try to hang in there for your next ultrasound, and just hope to see progress, because you may not be as far along as you think you are.
