So after a year of ttc (finding out I have endo last week), we also did a progesterone test 5 dpo (well at least 5 days post +opk). I've had a problem with premenstrual
since coming off the pill a year ago... so I just got my results from my progesterone test and they said it was below normal (didn't get an exact number- will call tomorrow for that) and that when i do get a positive pregnancy test that I will need to be on progesterone supplements.. SOO my question is, does a "lower than normal" progesterone mean that I didn't ovulate? Also, will being on progesterone starting after O (before I get a BFP) help make the bean stick so I will get that BFP?? It seems that most of the Dr's think it does no good until you actually get a bfp, but it seems if the lining is shedding too early that it would help to concieve (conceive).. any advice is greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!
My guess is that you did ovulate, since they just said the numbers were below normal. I;m pretty sure they would have told you if your levels were so low that it indicated no ovulation. Generally, a level over 5 indicates some form of ovulation, but the levels should be 10 or above in unmedicated cycles and 15 or above in medicated cycles.
One thing, though... if you had your prog. test today, and it's only been 5 days since a positive OPK, it might be a bit early. 5 days past LH
surge probably means about 4 dpo, which may be too soon to get an accurate result. Your progesterone may very well still be on its way up! Ideally, the progesterone test should be done at 7 dpo.
