my hart and brain herts so *** my masols idont no how long well last
I was told the opposite - that ice numbing was perfectly okay. I did both - numb backside w/ice (about 10 minutes) and warm up the progesterone. Afterwards, I applied some warmth to the injection site. I really didn't have too much pain w/the injections. I guess it was okay because I later delivered a healthy baby! hang in there - it'll get better.
I was told that ice is not a great idea, it may help with the pain of the injection, but it also makes the muscle tighter.
The suggestion they gave me was to stick the bottle between your legs for a bit while you are sitting down watching tv etc so the solution gets nice and warm. This thins it out so it is easier to go in and will disperse quicker. Then afterwards, rub the spot for a few minutes to help disperse (this can hurt a little bit if you press too hard) and then hot pack to warm the area and ensure blood supply to the muscle is good. Also they said to stick with the outer edge of the top outer quadrant (to avoid the main muscle that you sit on).
We have ended up sticking with the warming of the solution (other way is by putting it in a glass of hot water after drawing it in the syringe but this is just too fiddly) and forgoing the hot pack and doingi t just before bed.
I've been doing it a month now and don't have too many issues. I still hate it and can't wait for the placenta to kick in so I can stop them (probably another month to go........)
Hello,
I had to do the PIO shot and they are the pits!! I used ice to numb the area prior to injecting and then put a warm/hot towel on the area immediatly after...it worked for me!
Hope that helps!
i did progesterone shots for a little over a month and my bum was just all knotted up. it hurt to sit, lay, just about anything hurt.. i never found a way, i hear ice or heat helps some people though.. I ended up swtiching back to the progesterone suppositories.. as much fun as those aren't, they were better than the shots anyday! GOOD LUCK!
