ok so, are PIO stronger then the suppositories(sp??) or are they the same, or do the suppositories get to the right places faster? i ask because they just called and everything (pills wise) stays the same, but i stop taking the PIO shots tonight and start the suppositories! so, one of two things is happening and i asked to be put on the DR call back list, i want to talk to him about it.....but one of two things, first, im prego and the placenta
is taking over or two, im not and they are weaning me off...... its so frustrating.....

) starts producing its own progesterone till you have at least two progesterone tests. For example, at 4 weeks my progesterone was 13.2 and a week later it was 35.2. The whole time I was injecting 1/2 cc PIO. So, since the # went up my body started producing some progesterone. Despite that, I will be doing PIO shots for the whole first trimester.
I want to say that about 50% of women after ivf do PIO shots and 50% do suppositories. I think it's dr's preferences. PIO shots are painful
but you only need one shot per day and nothing comes out. With suppositories, some of that cream will come out which is why I would prefer the shots. Also, many ladies on this forum complain about developing UTIs
with suppositories. The advantage of suppositories is that it delivers progesterone where it supposed to be (rather than your butt). Let me know what your RE says about the two choices when you talk to him/her.
wall is the best place for progesterone absorbtion - etc
BUT, he used progesterone powder capsules (same dose as suppositories but not in water so they don;t "Seep" all out - I had a singleton and twins withthhose
with the singleton my bleeding would not subside so I asked for extra shots and for two weeks (around week 9) took the shots too
my RE here used to onlt believe in shots - he has comearound and go with woman's preference
my Re latest pregnancy - has done both shots and suppositories - and i am pregnant and a little worried about going off the progesterone this week - I quit my RE (didn't feel like paying any more) so my OB does not do a progesterone test to make sure its OK to go off - he just says oh by 14 weeks it should be ok
