I went through an ovulation induction cycle and was put on prometrium (progesterone) to support a healthy lining. I am now 20 days past ovulation, no period, and three negative home pregnancy tests (it is now day 33 of my cycle and I am typically a 28 day cycle, like clockwork). I talked to the doctor today who told me to stop the prometrium and I should expect my period in 2-3 days. I had my hopes up that perhaps I was pregnant because I know some women who have not gotten a positive on a home pregnancy test until a week after the expected period. I think I had my hopes up too much when the period was late when in fact it may have been the progesterone that was delaying my period. Has anyone had experience on progesterone like this?
The progesterone will keep your period from coming. I have been on it several times now. Once I get a negative beta, I stop taking the suppositories & 5 days later my period will start. It's tough because you get your hopes up. :(
Oh no!!!! I am on my TTW and I am using Endometrin (prgesterone inserts). That just ***** the life out of me to know that if i'm late, it might be because of the progesterone and not pregnancy. :-(
Yes, prometrium will delay your period as long as you are taking it. I also found that I ovulated earlier the next cycle, like my body wanted to stay on track. The side effects were hard on me.
Tjimenez10- Enodometrin is much better, just started taking it back in May instead of Prometrium. A much better product for me with a lot less side effects. It did delay my cycle recently and once I got a negative BETA, I stopped taking it and 24 hours later my period started. I am now on cd 4 and will ovulate sometime after cd 10 is my guess!
Sending baby dust to all,

Hi there. I was on Prometrium this past cycle and I thought that it was going to delay my period. However, my AF still came on the day it was supposed to while I was on Prometrium. I took it for one more day but I suppose my AF had its own mind and still continued so I stopped at CD2 when I tested BFN. Guess it differs for each one of us.
