Prometrium

I have been having irregular periods for about 7 or 8 years now. I do not have any childrean and my husband and I are ready to start trying. For my irregular periods my doctor told me to start taking the prometrium 2 capsules 200mg for 10 days every month. I have being doing this now for 7 months and have had very regular periods. My question is because I am now having a period every month does that mean I am ovulating? Could the prometrium be helping me at all with my fertility?

What was irregular about your periods before?? were they long apart or spotting?   Typically with progesterone/prometrium once you stop it you will then get your period, unfortuantely it doesnt' mean that you are for sure ovulating though.. the only way to for sure know is for them to check hormone levels (progesterone after O time) and ultimately to get an ultrasound to see if you have mature follicles developing and releasing.. do you get positive OPKs?  (LH surges)      Progesterone is great with people with Luteal phase defect or spotting too early after Ovulation.. it can help the fertilized egg implant and stay in the uterus! good luck!
