caused according to the doctors 1) by a severe bacterial infection in the uterus that for my health required treatment (which I was told the pregnancy had already started to fail and would not be able to be carried) and 2)because I had a cyst that would not allow the placenta
to attach/stay attached. I was told the treatment for the infection would affect the baby and without it would only make me sick and the pregnancy would fail anyway. I was told I needed a D&C right away ( I was also very sick as a result of the infection). Had D&C Sept 18 bled lightly for 10 days inthe mean time had the cyst taken care of and a round of 3 antibiotics to kill the infection which was swabed and gone 7 days later. On October 19 had severe cramping and heavy bleeding to emergency
ulatrsounds revealed retained products from the pregnancy so a second D&C done witha hysteroscopy ( a scope to see inside the uterus and ensure all tissue was gone) OBGYN confirmed all tissue is gone. More antibiotics to be safe
swab done all clear. OBGYN told me I can ttc 2 weeks after D&C because it aws a fluke that I had these 2 issues "just bad timing" and that both issues are clear and there is no reason for me to wait. My question is after 2 D&C's does the AF cycle go back to 4-6 weeks again after the second D&C or after the first? If this makes any sense? Also around ovulation after 2 D&C"S how long? Also I was told by OBGYN that 2 weeks after D&C a women is highly feryile because everything is clean and fresh? Anyone heard of this??Was told no scar tiss either.
Hi! I'm so sorry for what you've been through. I had a d&c sep 20th, only one. I have heard women ovulate 2 weeks after. I think it would mean after the second, because if you still had tissue left after the first, your body still was acting like you were pregnant. With me experience, I'm fairly certain I ovulated about 3 weeks afterwards, but everything was a little funky. My cm was weird, and after I think I ovulated I got my period like 2 days later. So I'm glad we didn't try that time because my hormones were so wacked it wouldn't have sustained a pregnancy anyways I don't think. But the next cycle was like clockwork. Everything has been normal, in fact I have more cm and feel more fertile and we're trying. They say it's usually like 6 weeks until you get a period following a d&c, but I got mine 24 days afterwards. I think everyone's just different. But if your doctor gave you the go ahead, then go for it! My doc said 3-6 cycles, but we can't wait that long. And I had no complications! Silly if you ask me. Good luck!
Thanks for your response. I am sorry to hear of your situation as well. The thing I dont understand is after my first D&C I had clear major stretchy discharge
3 weeks later and my Dr said I had ovulated? My HCG levels 2 days before the 2nd D&C were 19 and the day of the second D&C they were 15. Is it possible to ovulate when there are still HCG levels detectable? Also what makes you any more fertile 2 weeks after a D&C than any other time? Again Thanks to anyone who responds these forums are a great source of support and its nice to chat with ppl who truly understand what we are going through.:)
I don't think it's possible to ovulate with hcg, even in low numbers. However, your number may have returned to 0 very quickly after the 2nd d&c. I'm not sure? I have heard so many different things about fertility after a d&c. Some people say to wait to build up the lining, which I think is ridiculous. Every time we have af, that lining disappears and is built back up the next month. I've also heard that the d&c is good because it really cleans you out and provides a great environment for implantation, which makes you more fertile. I've also heard that after a miscarriage
, your body is for some reason just more in the baby making mode! And it functions as such, but this doesn't seem to be true for everyone. I am so freaked out, I had one good af but I still worry about the negative things I've heard people saying. I really want this next one to stick. We are all so different, we just really have no control over this and it drives me crazy!
You can definitely, absolutely, yes yes yes ovulate when there is still hcg in your system, and there can be quite a bit of it too. If the baby is gone, and the numbers are dropping, your body "knows" you are not pregnant anymore. Very few people have their hcg levels down to five or less within two weeks, unless it was a really early loss, and many still ovulate. Hcg trigger shots encourage ovulation. So, be fruitful and multiply!
