Question about odd ferning results.

Hello Ladies!  I started using a ferning microscope about 7 or 8 months ago for a few cycles and it worked very well for me.  I always got a clear reading (either full fern or none) and checked it against OPK's and it was very accurate.  However, this month something is different.  I stopped taking the pill last month after only a few days worth and AF showed up again shortly thereafter.  When she left, I started using the microscope again and it seems to have given me several partials over the last week but no full ferns.  I don't check my bbt as religiously as I should and haven't used an OPK because I never got a full positive so I have no idea whether I have actually ovulated this month or not.  Has anyone else experienced something like this before?  The optimistic section of my mind wants to think it means that I'm already pregnant... but pessimism is the majority ruler in my brain so I'm trying not to get my hopes up either.  Anyone heard of this?  Thanks.
