SA question in Re:IVF

My husband and I are doing IVF soon. He had an SA recently and it was great except for a high white blood cell count. Now he has to repeat it. If its still high this sidelines us and he has to see a urologist. He has absolutely no symptoms of anything as far as infection or prostate problems. Can't they just give him antibiotics? High WBC count means infection I assume. We have waited so long to do this and although we are concerned that he is healthy, of course, we are both wondering why he just doesn't take cipro or doxycycline and be done with it!

dangit! why didn't they just do that with my DH?? i don't get it!My husband had a cold about 2 months ago with a cough he had hanging on for awhile. I have a feeling that is what this is from. he feels fine, has no symptoms of any prostate problems. Everybody I have talked to has said they will just give him antibiotics. I wonder why they don't already?

My dh tested for ivf 2 days ago and the same problem: high white blood cell count.  He actually is sick though.  My doc prescribed him and myself antibiotics to bring that down, doxycycline (sp?) and I am proceeding with ivf.  We have to take it for 2 weeks.
