I'm so sorry - I hate insurance companies. But at least be grateful it's covered if you get this straightened out - my dh and I pay good money for a policy and no fertility treatments are covered at all. Good luck!
freezing was if an IVF cycle had to be cancelled after the retrieval but before the transfer, but the woman from the hospital told us that she had other patients with the same policy and it was covered. Dh and I decided against doing the freezing anyway, 1,000 to 2,000 dollars is a big number to swallow if it turns out that insurnace doesn't cover it after all.
I wish you the best of luck in dealing with the insurance company - all I can suggest is that from now on you document any conversations you have with the insurance company with date, time, the name of the person you spoke with, and the reason for the call. Keeping my fingers
crossed that all goes well, and everything is covered!!!
STUPID INSURANCE!
So I got a bill in the mail from my IUI. I called my insurance a month prior to my first iui to see if I needed pre-approval. They said you only need it for ivf. I mean the girl from surgical booking was right in the room w/ me when I called. Now I called them again and they said well you never called for pre-approval! WHAT! And he said well it shows here you called...but... I was like ok so why would I call have them say I need pre-approval then go ahead and do 2 iuis anyway. So now I have to do some kind of confrence thing. As if ttc isn't hard enough......
ugh I HATE INSURANCE. I loved getting bills for my DNC many months after ...so much for gettin over and moving on. They are so annoying. good luck withthem and dont let them GET YOU LOL.
I have been fighting with my insurance for the last month about my coverage. They have done some sneaky things but finally we are getting our IVF reimbursed. When I was trying to determine what and how I would be covered I called every day for a week and asked the same questions to make sure everyone was saying the same thing. They kept a record of it but I didn't care. Then I did the same thing once our reimbursement was supposedly "in process." No wonder fertility docs don't want to take insurance.
I hope you don't get scewed like I did. I just paid off my mc from JANUARY!!! The ins didn't pay for the D&C! Said it was medically unnecessary?!?!? I was 12wks! UGH! Way too much $$$ I hope they straighten it out for you.
What kinds of things did you write to get them to process your IVF claim???? I gave up and am paying for it all! If I could get an idea of how you fought it, I will do the same. I battled for months!!!!!!
testing and meds. My company is based out of MA where fertility coverage is mandatory. However I choose a doc that does not take Blue Cross (he dropped them b/c he wasn't getting paid). So we paid up front and I did everything they said to do, got all the bills, filled out all the forms and still they kept filing things wrong. So each time I called to find out where my money was, they found their mistakes and gave themselves 30 more days. Finally I got someone who knew what they were doing and fixed everything. Then I had my HR and legal department at work go after them. Miraculously I called Tuesday and they said it had been settled and they are sending me a check. I am not sure what to tell you to do to get them to pay. My company insures 3000 employees plus their families
coverage but does not include IVF. I fought too for more coverage but then I found that my doctors won't deal with Pacificare b/c they don't get paid either. Oh well. Money worth spending.
