Safety of Follistim

I will be sarting my first cycle with injectibles on wednesday......I have read some scary things concerning the side effects of these drugs.......how common is it to have side effects bad enough for fluid to go to your lungs? Last cycle I just did femara and the Ovidrel shot. My 2 follies did not rupture, so my RE thinks we need to produce more follies and the use Novarel instead this time around......I just want to make sure I am ready for the side effects.

Im on my second month of gonal-f injections(1st month 75iu & 2nd 150iu) and my only real side effect was headaches! Also, I'm sure you are starting on a lower dose...I'm thinking those bad side effects are for the lager doses!

I was worried too--I'm always convinced I'll be the one in a million that ends up w/ the worst side effect.  But other than a little soreness at the injection site, I didn't have any side effects. I was very pleasantly surprised. Good luck!

I did Gonal-F 2 x's & like Andrea my only side effect were some bad headaches......which I get during certain times of the month ANYWAYZZZZZ!!! LOL
I only have one ovary & I did notice that after I O'd it stayed a bit sore for several days, I think it was just cuz of my big follies that sort of stretched out my ovary.

Hi, I took Follistim for 2 cycles. I never had any real side affects, maybe some headaches and pain at the injection site, but nothing other than that! When I took Clomid, I had every single symptom listed that could've been a side affect! We got pregnant on our 2nd cycle with Follistim and are being induced in just 12 short weeks! Good luck!!! :)

Thanks for all the responces......I was watching a show on the discovery channel where a woman had to be rushed to the ER for bad side effects from these injections......this was last week before I knew I would be taking them myself........LOL so I got nervous......she ended up with six babies though!.......I am praying my follies rupture this time around!!! I was told this is very rare for them to get to the point where everything shows OV but then it never ruptures.......our bodies are way too complicated!
