Second injectable cycle...anyone else on injectables this month?

Second injectable cycle...anyone else on injectables this month?

Well, the cyst from my first injectable cycle is gone! Yay! I'm CD2 today and will start femara and menopur tomorrow. I will be taking femara days 3-7 and one menopur shot on days 3, 5 and 7. I produced three mature follicles on my first round, but ended up with a BFN and a huge cyst. Hopefully I'll have some better luck this month!

Anyone else on injectables this month?

Thank you, girls! I appreciate all the well wishes ;-) Just took my first femara pills and menopur injection this morning. I really hope it works this month!

Thanks, again!

Best of luck to you!!  I'm on my 5th day of follistim AQ.  This is my first cycle using injectable stims so it is all really new to me.

My last u/s was on Wed and there wasn't much action going on.  My next u/s is Monday.  When do you go for u/s?  Are you bding or IUI?

Hi Tanker Chic! Glad to have an injectable buddy this cycle :-) I'm actually not going back in until CD11, which is next Friday. I think there are two reasons for this...one is that I have never had any problems producing one or more follicles, and always ovulate more or less on schedule (just not getting a BFP), and two, since I don't have insurance that covers fertility, I think my RE is trying to keep the costs down a little this way. Not sure, though :-)

I'll probably be doing an IUI next weekend, or possibly Monday, depending on how mature the follicles are next Friday.

What cycle day are you today? If you just started the stims, I'm sure that's why they didn't see much on your last ultrasound. Hopefully you'll be able to see a few good follies (on the right side...right?) on Monday! Best of luck!

hey Heather5 I went in for my day 3 u/s and my cyst is gone too!!! I started my first follistim injection today. Will take 100mg of that day 3-7 and then go back in for u/s on Tuesday. Last cycle I produced lots of follies but about 6 mature ones and still BFN...figure it was too thin a lining. Looks like we're on the exact same schedule. :) Good luck sweetie!! This is my second round with injections too so hopefully the second times the charm for us both!!!

Oh wow! We really are on the exact same schedule this month! And we're both on our second injectable cycle, too. How cool! Yeah, let's hope the second time's the charm for both of us! I like that :-)

...oh, and first time's the charm for Tanker Chic!

OK, since we already have three "injectable girls" on here, I'll start a list:

Tanker Chic - CD?, Follistim, next sonogram Monday
Nevaeh - CD3, Follistim, next sonogram Tuesday
Heather - CD3, Femara/Menopur, next Sonogram 11-14

SSBD!

Hi!  I am CD10 and on day 8 of Gonal F injections.  I am looking for some cycle buddies too.  I wish everyone BFPs!

I'm on CD20 but only the 5th day of follistim.  My RE was giving me estrogen to thicken my lining and it acted like birth control and complete strunted all follicle development.  Basically put my cycle on hold.  On CD16 when I still had zero follie development, he started me on the follistim. I've never had such a long cycle in my life!! Usually my whole cycle is only 25 to 28 days long.  Ugh!! I honestly don't understand what all the focus on my lining is about anyway.  When I concieved with my son my lining was thin, so I personally don't put too much stock in all the thin lining biz.

Oh, no point in looking back now... only forward!!  Here is to big healthy follies for us all and on the left side for me!!

kmcarino: We'd love to have you as our cycle buddy! I'll add you to the list ;-)

Tanker Chic: OK, so it's the left side! I'll send you some "left-side follie vibes" for your next appointment then! That's interesting about the estrogen delaying your cycle. Did your doctor decide on the injectables after already using the estrogen then? Just wondering, because I think the injectables increase the lining too. While being monitored, my lining has usually been around 8-9, but on my one injectable cycle a couple of months ago, it was over 12mm!

I am going in for b/w and u/s today to see how the follcies look and how many there are.  They always have a hard time getting my blood since my veins are tiny so I am not looking forward to it but I am hoping for good results.  Just wondering...has anyone else been on Ganirelix for their IUI cycle to prevent ovulation?  If so, how many days did you take it?  Good luck to everyone and I'll keep you all posted.  I am so happy to have some cycle buddies this month!  Thanks for being there for me.

Yeah, we never even talked about the injectables until my cycle basically shut down because of the estrogen pills. So yes it was an after thought. Originally there was no plan to use the injectables. Which it really surprises me that the dr didn't know it was going to act like birth controll pills. He thought if I took them vaginally they would not have that effect but apparently he was wrong!!  All the estrogen really hasn't done much for my lining.  On cd19 it was still only 7mm and I would have thought it would be thicker than that, just because it had 19 days to thicken up.  Usually it is around 6 to 7 on cd12.

kmcarino: I've never been on ganirelix, so unfortunately I can't help you there. I didn't even know they did suppression drugs for IUIs. Buy hey...at least you don't have to worry about ovulating too soon. I've had that scare a couple of times, although it turned out to be for no reason :-) Best of luck with your appointment today, and keep us posted when you get back!

Tanker Chic: Yeah, that is kinda weird, but hopefully the Follistim has kicked those ovaries back into gear and you'll have some nice, ripe follies on Monday!

SSBD to everyone!

I think a lot of patients start taking Ganirelix at least at my clinic they do so I am wondering if anyone on this forum has used it.  I think it is also called Antagon.
My appt. went well.  The blood test was not too bad but the one on Sunday will probably be.  It looks like I have around 8 good sized follicles and a lot more smaller ones.  My estrogen is 1600.  Does that seem high to you?  I go back Sunday and the IUI will be Tues. or Wed.  Thanks for your support.
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
Wow! 8 follicles! That's great! I think they say that estrogen levels are approximately 200 per mature follicle, so that would be exactly 1600 :-) Although, since you're going back on Sunday, your follicles probably aren't fully mature yet, but I'm sure the smaller ones are adding to the estrogen level too. Did your doctor say how many mm the follicles were?

Good luck with your next appointment this weekend, and fingers crossed for a successful IUI next week!

:-)

I'm getting estrogen done on Tuesday too. This is the first..they haven't ever done blood work before. Hopefully this helps increase my chances of a successful IUI this time around. After 7 of them it's starting to look dim!

A couple of months ago when I started on follistim I had 14 follies!! Only 6 were actually matured and I was worried that they were going to cancel my cycle..hopefully we have less follies this time around.

Heather5 what cycle day do you usually do your IUIs...I'm usally CD 16 and 17. I opt for two IUIs because of the fact that we can't BD to help our chances cuz of DH's vasectomy.

I really hope this is the month! We've all been waiting for this for soooo long!

I think the follicles ranged from 16 down to 12.  I seem to do better when they let me stay ont he Gonal for 12 or 13 days so by tomorrow or Monday they should be good sizes.  I wonder why no one else seems to take the shot to prevent premature ovulation?  How many days of shots do people normally take for their IUI?

Yay! More cycle buddies!

Nevaeh: I've usually had my IUI on day 14...and I only have one. But that makes sense that you do two because of your situation. I only had three mature follicles last time I did injectables, but I'm only doing three shots of 75 mg, so it's a pretty "mellow" inectable cycle. My RE was happy with the three and said he wanted to see up to four follicles. So we'll see how things go this cycle. I really hope this is our month too :-)

kmcarino: I think the number of days on injectables differ a lot from person to person. It depends on whether or not you ovulate on your own, how you respond, and your REs protocol. I think my RE is a little bit more conservative for IUIs than others. I know a lot of women take much higher dosages and for a lot longer than I do. As for the drugs to prevent ovulation, I'm not really sure how common that is for IUIs...but I would think it gives your RE more control over your cycle, which is a good thing ;-) Your follicle numbers sound great, by the way. They usually grow about 2 mm a day towards the end of the follicular phase, so the larger ones (around 16 mm) will probably be mature by tomorrow, and the smaller (around 12 mm) will be close too!

Fifi, butterflybabies and Tracy: Welcome! We'd love to have you guys! I'll add all three of you to the list. Let's hope for lots of BFPs on this thread!

Does anyone know what good estrogen numbers should be? I've never had blood work done before so I just wanted to know what to shoot for. Also, what about lining? Last time it was extremely thin...

No side effects from meds. My DH has the flu so I'm sure it's coming my way..
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
Fifi: I'm doing good. Thanks for asking :-) I now only have one day left of meds, and then I have to wait for my sonogram on Friday. Hopefully things will look good and I can go ahead and have my IUI on either Saturday or Monday. As for Ganirelex, I've never tried it, so I'm not really sure about side effects. That's good that you're not having any, though :-)

Nevaeh: I've never had my estrogen checked in any of my medicated cycles either, but I believe 200 per mature follicle is the norm...but that would be right before ovulation. As for the lining, I think they prefer a 7 or 8 mm or more...but I'm not sure what the lower limit is. Let us know how it goes on Tuesday!

Looks like we have a lot of sonograms tomorrow! Best of luck to those of you going in, and keep us posted when you get back!

Yer the lucrin is to control- lower my hormones. Then the Gonal F is for the making of the folicles, do you guys use that??? I know its a bit different drugs we use but think its about the same.. hello  ladies, just got back from the re for u/s.they said i'm cd7 today[thought i was cd8}.anyway,they found 10 follies.6 onthe left and 4 on the right.one is 10:9,two 7:5 and the rest in their fives.the nurse was not really pleased with the results.she said she wanted the follies to be atleast 8mm.anyway,blood work was done.she will be calling me later on today to tell me if i'm increasing the dosage or not.

tanker chick, butterflybabies, tracy, how was your apt this morning? will keep u ladies updated.

Fifi: I think your results sound pretty good, especially since you're only CD7! I'm sending you some extra baby dust so that the 5's will start catching up with the bigger ones :-) And who knows? There might be a few others hiding out, ready to start growing too! Keep us posted on the blood work results!

Ingy: Gonal-F is one of the big ones over here too. Lucrin might be too, though...I'm just not familiar with it. Or it could have a different name here. As for IVF transfers, I think it's basically up to your RE how many he will let a person transfer, but I think the most common is to transfer two. If someone has had several failed cycles and is a poor responder, they might let that person transfer three or four...but I'm not sure how common that is.

As for me, I'm now officially done with my meds! Took the last shot and pills this morning....so now all I have to do is wait while those little follicles mature :-) Something interesting I noticed this cycle, though, is that the Menopur shots seemed to sting a lot more than they did in my first cycle...which is kinda interesting, because I was so careful this time, making sure it was all the way dissolved and that the alcohol was completely dry before the injection. Strange...

OK, ladies, here's the updated list!

I wanted to give an update.  My estrogen is 6000 today and I have 10 follicles that seem to be mature and more may become mature once I take the Novarel.  My IUI will be Wed. at 10am.  I usually take the whole 10,000 untils of Novarel but this time they are telling me to take 5,000 units or half of it.  Has anyone else been told to only take half of it?  They are cconcerned about my high estrogen level and are having me take less to try to prevent hyperstimulation.  But I am worried since I have always taken the whole 10000 and did when I got pregnant.  I know some people take Ovidrel but I prefer to take Novarel.  I am hoping other people have taken 5000 units and gotten pregnant....has anyone?  I will be upset if I don't get pregnant...I will be thinking that the lower dosage had something to do with it.  Is there anyone that can set my mind at ease and knows that it will not affect whether I get pregnant or not?

Anya: Thank you so much for your well wishes! I really appreciate it ;-) Hope you're doing well!

kmcarino: I wouldn't worry about the lower dose of novarel. You have so many mature follicles that even if you didn't take anything, you should still ovulate and release the majority if not all of the eggs on your own! But I'm sure the 5,000 units will get the process started. Best of luck tomorrow!!!

Well I have an update from today's ultrasound. My estrogen was 428? I believe that is what she said. I have 4 dominate follies on my left and 4 on my right and several smaller ones. I believe they are all around 13-11 mm. One thing I did find out though was that last cycle my lining was only 4 when I did my IUIs.........4!!!! What the heck...
It's already 6.5 so hopefully this will make the difference in my IUI working this time!
I took another 100iu of follistim today and tomorrow and I go again for an ultrasound on Thursday. Looks like they plan on doing trigger shot and then IUIs on Friday and Saturday. Last time they did trigger when they were about 15? Aren't they supposed to be bigger than that?
Blank
419990_tn?1228262726
By the way..it looks like we're going to be in this together! Especially if you have your IUI on Saturday! That'd be great if we had some BFP's for Thanksgiving!
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
LOL! Yeah, it's pretty crazy how close our cycles are this month. I'll find out on Friday if we'll do the IUI on Saturday or not. That would be awesome if we could both celebrate a BFP on Thanksgiving. That would certainly be something to be thankful for :-)

Oh, and four lead follicles are great! Your estrogen sounds good too for where you are in your cycle! I'm not sure how common it is to trigger at 15. My RE usually trigger at 18 or so. But remember that the follicles will continue to grow after the trigger, so a 15 would probably be about 18 at the time of ovulation...or even 19 or 20 if the measurements were done during the day and the trigger not taken until that night.

As for your lining, that's great that it's already 6.5...especially since it was only 4 last cycle.

Good luck with your next ultrasound on Thursday! Hopefully things will look just perfect, so you can go ahead with your IUIs on Friday and Saturday!

SSBD!!!

Sending you lots of hugs and good wishes for next month! By the way, if they're canceling your cycle, is there any way they can speed things up with progesterone or something so you can get started again sooner rather than later?

Glad to hear you're having some "action' in your ovaries :-) I'm not feeling anything, but I only took three shots total, so I'm not expecting too may follicles. Maybe three or four? Keep us posted after your sonogram tomorrow!

Fifi-I am so sorry that your IVF cycle is canceled.  It stinks that you have to pay for more cycles.  But try to look at it like this:  If you went through with it, you would not get pregnant and you would have lost more money.  It must be so frustrating and we are all here for support.  I hope they figure out a good combination of meds that will work much better for you so that you can be on your way to a bfp.  Try to be as positive as possible.

As for me, I had my IUI yesterday and we used 77 million after the wash so I am happy and really hoping and praying that it will work this time.  I am not in the 2ww.  Is anyone else having their IUI this week?  Thank you everyone for the good wishes.

well all....my sonogram today revealed 8 follies ready/close total. the biggest is 19 than I have one 17, 15,15,15,13,13,11....or something like that. I know I have one 19 and one 17 at least. Which means...ta da..I had my HCG shot at 6 tonight. My DH had to give it to me this time and I admit was a little nervous but everything went fine. My lining was 9.5 too which is awesome compared to 4 last time I did IUI in September!!!
They figure my 19 and 17 will go and a couple of the 15's too probably. I have my IUI tomorrow morning at 8:30 and then another on Saturday at 9am. Hopefully this is the cycle! My ovaries are huge and ready to burst! I'll keep ya updated..but tomorrow officially starts the 2ww.
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
A 9.5 IS awesome! Wow, what a difference from last time! And maybe 3-4 eggs releasing! Things are really looking good for you this month! Best of luck with your IUI tomorrow...and on Saturday!

Hopefully I'll be ready for trigger tomorrow too, so we can obsess over 2WW symptoms together!

SSBD!

I had ultrsound today and we wanted follicles and I got them thats for sure. Twenty on the right about six good size ones then little ones and about the same amonunt on the other side. I just really hope i have a fresh transfer as they may have over stimulated me!!! Blood work was a bit high so the nurses have just told me to rest and drink loads of water... Fingers and toes x
Just want a fresh transfer as only had one and have done 4 stimulated cycles...

OK, ladies! Just got back from my sonogram and I have three mature follicles. Two on the left that are both 20.5 mm and one on the right at 20 mm. So they're all really close in size. My lining was 9.8. Sooooo, I'll have my IUI tomorrow morning! I so hope this is the month!!!

Ingy: Wow, I agree with Fifi...that's a lot of eggs! Yay! Hopefully they'll continue growing without causing any hyperstimulation. Try drinking some Gatorade too (if they have that in Australia). I've heard the electrolytes in it are supposed to help, and lots of women drink it during their IVF cycles. Fingers crossed for you!

Fifi: Good luck with your appointment next week! Hopefully, you won't have to wait long before trying again...and getting your BFP!

Here's the update list:

-------------------

kmcarino - 2 dpo, Gonal-F
Nevaeh - CD11, Follistim, IUI today and tomorrow!
Heather - CD11, Femara/Menopur, IUI tomorrow!
Tracy (ghjunkie) - CD11, Follistim/Cetrotide
butterflybabies - CD10, IVF, Lupron/Follistim/Menopur, 7 follicles so far, sono tomorrow!
Ingy - CD9, IVF cycle, Gonal-F/Lucrin, about 12 good-sized follicles so far

heather-that's awesome that you'll be doing IUI same time as me! Your follies are a little bigger than me but looks like we have about the same ready!

IUI today went ok...the lovely nurse was having a hard time with the spec and it hurt rather a lot but I survived..it was only 14 hours after HCG so I'm sure tomorrow morning when it's 38 hours after everything will be smoother...

I'm really hoping this is it! 3-4 good follies, great lining...good sperm numbers...what could go wrong!! ..

I didn't get the actual count for the sperm..the nurse had to help a patient with something so she forgot to come back and tell me but I'll find out tomorrow morning I'm sure...

anyways...good luck ladies..especially Heather!!!

Thank you, Nevaeh! Yeah, hopefully tomorrow will be a big day for us both!

I'm actually a little bit sad today. My sister just called and told me she is pregnant again. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for her...just a little sad, too, since this will be her second since my first miscarriage. My best friend also just had her second in the same time frame. Sometimes, I just wish the world would stop and wait for me to catch up...you know?

BUT hopefully it will happen for ALL OF US soon too!!!

SSBD to everyone! Hoping to see lots of BFPs on here this month!

I'm so sorry about your iui! :(  Please don't get discouraged, though.  I'll tell ya, I had a similar thing happen this cycle.  We were all set to try our first iui & I was so excited!  The week prior I had my HSG, which revealed that I have an issue with my uterus which prevents me from carrying healthy multiples.  So, because of the risk of multiples with iui, we had to scratch that idea!  I was so upset, so I do know how you feel.  We go through so much & try to stay so strong, but then yet another hurdle is thrown our way.  I found out my HSG results on a Friday & O'd on the following Tues.  I'm currently 11dpo & just hoping & praying for a miracle.  If not, we'll be trying IVF, but then they'll only be able to implant one embryo at a time.  Again, due to the risk of multiples.  So, it'll be a long road ahead, but it's the ladies on here that keep me strong & keep me going :)  I wish you all my best!  Take care :)

Oh Heather that *****!!!! Try and not get yourself too upset i know that is hard to do but try and think of some positives...  Big Hugs.....

Nevaeh good luck with your IUI..

I had another blood test today levels are quite high so no Gonal F tonight so trigger tomorrow then egg collection on Wed.. Looks like i'm going to have a fesh cycle as they have halfed my trigger injection so i don't blow up...

My heart and prayers go out to all of you....

heather5: that's really disappointing!!! :( I cannot believe they would cancel your IUI because of the numbers..they coulda just gave it shot? I mean you only need one right?
That also really is no fun about your sister. I have the same situation with my sister in law. She's on her 2nd after and I've been trying longer than she had her first! I just wish one day would be MY day and that I'll get to be the one so say we're having a baby!!!

IUI on Saturday went good. The sperm count was 55 million after washed..which I didn't think was that great..but I guess it is? I've had better donor numbers but I'll take it. I'm really praying that this is the cycle. It'd be perfect timing. I start my progesterone tonight. I think we'll find out right before Thanksgiving or maybe we'll have to wait until right after. I hope this is a Thanksgiving that I can find thanks that we are having a little baby! After my mom died I find it hard to be thankful...I mean...God took my mom when she was only 51 years old...

Anyways...enough of that..I'm officially 1dpiui and hoping for a little bean. :o)

Blank
655897_tn?1328022045
nevaeh222-55 million is a GREAT number so don't worry about that!  I am 4dpiui so we are close.

Heather5- I am SO sorry that they canceled your IUI!  That must be devastating!  After all you went through and for nothing!  I don't see why they could not just get another sample either later that day or the next morning since my clinic tells me that you are fertile for 24 hours after the IUI, which for me, they do 36 hours after the trigger.  Anyway, I am very sorry and I am here if you'd like to talk.  It will heppen---keep the faith!

Ingy77-What was your estrogen level?  Mine was 6000 and I took the trigger shot that night.  How many days were you on the Gonal?  I was on Gonal too.  What trigger shot did you take?  They told me to only take half the normal dose too due to the high estrogen level.  I took 5,000 units of Novarel.  I guess you are doing IVF...I had my third IUI done last Wed.  Good luck with your retrieval!
Blank
419990_tn?1228262726
kmcarino: I had my IUI 36 hours after trigger too. I only could do 7,500 units because they didn't want me to hyperstimulate either. Hopefully this is it for the both of us. Have you scheduled a blood test? I wanted to get one before Thanksgiving but I'll only be 11 days after my trigger so I don't think they'll do it that early for fear of false positive...bummer.

Good luck hunny! This is for the both of us..I know it! I think I'm going to try one more cycle after this if not because I have 2 vials of follstim left over and then it's off to IVF.
Blank
655897_tn?1328022045
Did you also take Novarel as the trigger shot?  They told me to only take 5,000 units due to the high estrogen level they didn't want me to hyperstimulate but I still could...let's hope not.  I have a blood test to check the estrogen and progesterone levels this coming Wednesday and then the pregnancy test the follwing Wed., a day before Thanksgiving!  I hope I have a bfp to be thankful for that day!

Didn't you have your trigger one day before me?  That would have been Sunday?  If so, that would be plenty of time for it to be out of your system, especially since you did not take the full dose, just like me.  I would schedule a test for the same day as mine.  As long as it is 10 days past when you took the trigger, it should be out of your system.
Blank
585875_tn?1323658105
Kmcarino my estrogen level was 16000 they gave me a night off the Gonal F last night and trigger is tonight... I was on the Gonal F for nine days..  How many days were you on it??? I don't know much about IUI but is it sort of the same as IVF??? I'm getting the trigger this morning so will let you know what it is..

I went through ER yesterday ~ Follicles: 23.7-left 21-right ~ by BW on Friday was EST-589 - PROG-2.1/LH-7.9 / Beta-66.  I got a call today to say the eggs fertilized well, and the ET will be on Tuesday.

It's weird but this ER didn't hurt near as much as the last one, and they only got one egg the last time.  I actually came through the anesthesia faster too.  (Just hope I don't have to do it again....)

Heather - hope you got my message.  Best wishes....

Girls it is so nice to have a forum for support ~ thanks so much.

You're right..I had my trigger shot on Thursday so the Sunday before Turkey day would be 11 days and Wednesday would be 13 so that should be plently of time...that would make me 11dpiui too! That should be plently of time to get a positive beta right??

I'll call my nurse in the morning and see if she is willing to schedule a test then. :o) I am really hopeful that this it the positive cycle!! I'm not sure why..but I just feel it...after 8 cycles of IUI this has got to be the one!
Blank
655897_tn?1328022045
Yes, you should definitely get an accurate beta test at 11dpiui.  You just might not get a bfp on an hpt at that point.  Ask the nurse, but I am pretty sure that should be fine.

Ingy77- I was on the Gonal for 12 days.  IVF is a lot more expensive but has a higher success rate.  IUI is similar in that they still stimulate you to produce multiple eggs and then you get a trigger shot to ovulate. The difference with IUI is that they just inject the sperm into your uterus as opposed to retrieving eggs like with IVF(they stay in the body)

Hi girls! Sorry I've been MIA for the last few days...I was just so disappointed with the whole cancelled IUI thing. We did end up BDing that night and the following night, but I'm not sure if the sperm was any better then. According to my RE, the sample for the IUI had a very low concentration and count and 0% fast-moving sperm. He was totally puzzled by why this happened, since the previous samples have always been very good. He was wondering is maybe my DH had had a fever or some type of infection that would have caused it, but we haven;t really noticed anything...so who knows. But, I'll get over it. Hopefully it was just a one-time thing.

Thanks to all of you for your kind notes and posts! I really appreciate all of the support!

Mommyin09: I'm so sorry about the uterus issue...I really hope you get pregnant (with one) this cycle, so you won't have to worry about IVF! Best of luck and SSBD!

Heather Great to see you back with us.. I know sometimes you need a bit of time out to get your head around things..  My husband has low sperm count the second round of IVF there was no swimmers they said it could be from anything.. Even a clod or cough he had three months ago.. Its weird how little things like that can change the body..

Well today is the day of the retrieval Yay its early morning so we are up and about about to head off. Then transfer is on Mon 24th, then the wait till the 5th Dec for the blood test to see how pregnant i am..... Have taken that time off work thought i would give it my best chance...

Hope all is going well with you. Big Hugs

ET went well ~ had the one transferred that originally multinucleated but then separated into 3-cells.  The original one that was fine ended up multinucleating, so they didn't use it.  I have alot of questions on this, and have not found any answers on the net.  It frightens me since I really don't know what to expect, and the embryologist was very vague to say the least, but she had said alot of women had had full-term pregnancies with nromal children who had the same "problems", so I am hopeful.

We stopped for lunch on our way home and then I slept for about 3 hrs on the couch until my daughter came home, then DH went to the dentist, and is now @the Confirmation workshop with her while I have our four dogs demanding my attention. (It's pretty hard to try and type while a big nose keeps on nudging your elbow up to get a pet..!!)

I did bend over to pick my dish up from the floor (without thinking since the instructions explicitly said no bending over..uuggh..) so I can put it in the sink, and could have kicked myself afterwards.  Hope I didn't mess anything up.  I am really not a sedentary person, and this is killing me to just lay on the couch all day - at least I get to watch any movie I want on NETFLIX!!!....(3 so far...).

Hope everyone else is doing well.

If anyone has any info on this I'd REALLY appreciate it!

TIA!

Ok ~ HAD to call embryology to find out EXACTLY what was up with eggs....couldn't wait.

I asked her about the egg that wasn't transferred-what happened to it?: It never continued dividing 2-cell odd shaped-spitted out fragmentation and was discarded.

The Egg that was transferred's quality she said was "Excellent..exactly what we look for": 4cell 2AA

I also asked about bending over yesterday and she said they wrote the strict instructions to just make women realize to relax as much as possible the first two weeks after conceiving.  She asked if I was ever pregnant before, and I told her yes, but didn't know it at first and was going out dancing at the time with my husband all the time.  She said we just have to take it alot easier since it is through IVF and you don't want to risk anything.

...ok ~ I feel MUCH better!  Off to watch some more Angel/Charmed on TV then some Netfix movies on the net!

Have a great day girls!!!

Hey Heather you will never guess but 22 eggs!!!! So yer must of had lots of follicles... Feeling alright now, was in a bt of pain last night. Good to have today off aswell.

We have frozen sperm so hope they take well since its frozen.. Well at least some of them will since so many.. Fingers x......

I was also thinking is it worth your partner freezing some so you guys have a back up plan??? My hubby has no swimmers so he also goes under to inject sperm out.. Very sore for him.. But they get alot, enough for about 3 cycles...

Well girls hope you all are travelling well...
Look forward hearing good news.......

Holy moly...22 eggs!!! That is great news, Ingy! I hope the majority of them fertilize, and that you'll have some perfect little embryos to transfer in a few days!

That's funny that you should mention freezing, because I was actually thinking about that all Saturday after the cancelled IUI. I haven't talked to my RE about it yet (or even my DH), but I think I will next time I see him. That way, my DH could provide a sample to freeze while I'm on my period or something...and we'll even be able to BD the night before the IUI to maximize our chances. Do you know if they do the semen analysis and sperm wash before the freeze, so you know what the numbers are beforehand?

Sending you and your little eggies lots of SSBD!

RE just called..2 of my eggs never fertilized and the 1 that did had an extra chromosone! RE said that looks like my egg quality is bad and that it wouldnt be worth going thru another IVF cycle..he said especially since I was on a high dosage of meds and only had 3 mature eggs...and that it would be a mircle if I ever got pregnant on my own.!! I am sitting here crying and absolutely beside myself..I know that there are other options such as egg donation and adoption but as a woman to hear that you will never produce your own children that hurts! My DH is at work and doesnt know yet and he so desperatly wants a baby...Insurance doesnt cover anything and I know egg donation is expensive...I dont know what we will do!!! Should I get a second opinion? OMG I am so hurt!!

OMG, butterflybabies! I am so sorry to hear that! I feel bad now for being upset about my cancelled IUI... That really s u c k s about your eggs not fertilizing!

I can't believe they told you that it would be a miracle if you got pregnant on your own. That's not just a very insensitive thing to say, but EXTRA hurtful when you've just been told your IVF cycle is cancelled. Is there no chance that this was just a random, bad month?

I think you're right...go get a second opinion. Otherwise, you'll always be wondering.

I REALLY hope your current RE is wrong!

WHAT AN *A*S*S* ~ You cannot seriously be thinking of listening to him?  I have been through the same thing with my first TWO RE's that were the over-publicized donor-egg pushers.  Please don't let him get you down - look into the "America's Top Physicians" and find another REPUTABLE RE near you.  Don't listen to the *A*S*S.  He is such an insensitive B*A*S*T*A*R*D ~ shame on him.  Do a lkittle crying ~ BUT ~ onkly for allowing someone say something so nasty to you.  Where do you live..??..Who was the RE?...???....  My DH said as soon as we get prego he's gonna strut me into the past two RE's who turned us down and started pushing the donor eggs.  All they do is look at their bottom line and the numbers.

I'm sorry that my OLD RE MUST have a BROTHER that is as insensitive as he(they) was/were.

I just noticed on one of your posts that you say your DH has his sperm extracted....just curious for the future...my DH had a vasectomy and if we end up doing IVF we plan on doing the same thing...do you know exactly how it's done? it is expensive? how much do they get out? is the sperm quality worse than actual men who can do it naturally??? I know lots of questions but I think you're the only one I've talked to that actually has done this.

Anyways...I'm what? 4dpiui..I am sore bbs and feel a big constipated but I'm sure it's from the progesterone sup. I had some bad cramping Monday night...felt like AF cramps...I'm not sure if this was because of the many follies or not..don't recall that last time. I'm still rather bloated and my ovaries are still sore...Still planning for my beta next Wednesay. I'm not sure what to think since I'll only be 11dpiui..what kind of numbers do you think they should be if it was positive?
Blank
655897_tn?1328022045
I had my levels checked today since I am 7dpiui and my progesterone level is only 15.  I am so bummed:(  That is very low to me.  My level has always been over 20 and when I got pregnant was over 40.  Last cycle when I was not on the prog. supp. the level was over 20.  This time I am taking prog. support and the level is lower.  I feel as though I got my bfn already.  My estrogen level was 435 which is lower than I hoped as well.  I am trying to conceive multiples and I don't think a multiple pregnancy could be supported with that low of a lovel of prog.  Could the level go up when implantation takes place?  Is that possible?  Does anyone know if this is a valid concern or not.  My nurse told me anything over 10 is ok, but a few other people have said anything over 15 is ok, and mine is not over 15.
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
kmcarino: I wouldn't worry about your progesterone levels at this point. You're only 7 dpo, so you might not even have had implantation yet (usually happens between 6 and 12 dpo). Your body won't really know whether or not fertilization has occurred until implantation takes place, and a 15 is considered a good level to sustain a possible pregnancy.

Also, are you on progesterone orally or vaginally? If vaginally, the progesterone is delivered right where it's needed, but the levels might not be as high in the blood stream as it is down by the uterus. At least that's how I've understood it.

Nevaeh: I would think the levels would be pretty low at 11 dpiui, but probably still high enough register positive on a blood test if you're pregnant :-)

Best of luck to both of you!
Blank
655897_tn?1328022045
Thank you so much for responding!  I just thought that in order for implantation to occur that the progesterone level has to be over a 20 to have a good chance.  I just want there to still be the possiblility for implantation to occur and I think 15 may be too low.  I am on Crinone, a vaiginal cream.  Is that not showing up in the blood test?  Maybe that is the case, but I have never had a level lower than 20.  I have read that with medicated cycles the prog. should be over 20.  Do you think I could still get pregnant with multiples?  I also wonder if the level can fluctuate and maybe be high enough when implantation would occur?
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
No worries...it doesn't have to be 20. Generally what they say is 10 or more in an unmedicated cycle or 15 or above in a medicated cycle. My RE even says 12 or above in a medicated cycle, so your levels are definitely high enough for implantation and also to sustain a pregnancy. And yeah, the vaginal cream would also work directly on the cervix and uterus, and a blood test might not indicate the true level down there where it counts ;-)

As for the question about multiples, I'm not really sure if the levels indicate anything one way or the other.

Sending you some extra sticky baby dust!

Butterfly Listen to the girls!! Go and get a second opinion....

Neraeh Yes he had a vasectomy had a op to change it back with no luck  (six grand later).. What we didn't know at the time he didn't need to go through that as they can extract sperm for IVF.. The first time it was a surprise as thought there were swimmers but came to the day and nothing!!! So they just injected some out under local.. Poor dear.. Then the next time was great he went under and they got quite alot!! Enough for last cycle and three straws as they call them. Just used one and that was with 21 eggs!!! The price the first time was only for the local i think they felt sorry for us.. Then when he went under it wasn't that much probably all up $2000 including hosital fees. As we weren't covered then... That's australian dollars..
The sperm has been great quality!!! They get out a bit as they know how painful it is for them afterwards.. My hubby was off work for a week...
Hope that makes sense, let me know if anything else.

Thanks so much for all of your help.  Not many people have responded about this and I really appreciate it since I have been obsessing over it since yesterday.  I guess it is still possible, but I am pretty sure it is not working.  I am crampy today which in comparison to my other failed cycles means af will be coming...this seems to be PMS and I do normally get light cramping a week before af.  I am hoping for a miracle but will not be surprised if I get bfn.
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
kmcarino: Yeah, I know what you mean...I obsess about things like that sometimes too ;-) 15 is a good number, though, so don't worry about that. I know you said you normally get cramps before AF, but to help you feel a little better, I just wanted to let you know that I got cramps like that the two times I got pregnant!

Here's today's list...

-------------------

Beth - 17 dpo, Gonal-F, (did you test?)
kmcarino - 8 dpiui, Gonal-F, beta 11-26
Nevaeh - 5 dpiui, Follistim, beta 11-26
Heather - 5 dpo, Femara/Menopur (three mature follicles, but IUI cancelled)
Tracy - 2 dpt, Follistim/Cetrotide, one perfect 4-cell transferred
Ingy - CD15, IVF cycle, Gonal-F/Lucrin, 22 eggs retrieved, waiting for transfer

butterflybabies - IVF cycle cancelled...so sorry :-( Keep us posted and don't give up!
Fifi - IVF cycle cancelled :-(  Follow-up appointment today (Good luck, and let us know how it goes!)

655897_tn?1328022045
Thanks:)  Did you have cramps as early as 8dpo?  I had AF cramps when I got pregnant too but I think it was a little later than 8dpo.  With my last few failed cycles, I got cramps a week before af would be do just as I do normally with PMS.  Anyway, I will pray for a miracle.  The nurses have reassured me that the level of 15 would not keep me from getting pregnant so I feel a little better about that but because of my light cramping today and that my estrogen is also a lot lower than it was when I got pregnant, I am thinking the result will still be negative.

I hope you are feeling better.
Blank
419990_tn?1228262726
ugh I am in the same boat kmcarino..I just do not feel pregnant anymore. I was super positive in the beginning but it is slowly starting to fade...my ovaries are still sore and I am slighty bloated and uncomfortable..my bbs are sore but probably from progesterone...I dunno..I just don't feel any different than I did all the last cycles with BFNs....I am 5/6dpiui and I'm thinking I'm going to give up hope......maybe on to IVF...

Ingy: thanks for responding. I'm glad I finally got to talk to someone who's had experience with that because I've only read things. We didn't do a reversal because it's been 11 years and thought we'd get pregnant faster with a donor and IUI...well 8 IUI's later I'm not sure that we saved any money....

butterflybabies,OMG... i just finished reading your post of yesterday.this is just sooo wrong.it breaks my heart to hear this.OHH God!!!!you are definately getting a second and third opinion.all option need to be exhausted. What a Shame!!!!!!!!!! to go through all what you went through just to get this. Please lets put this into prayers.

i had my appointment today.the re told me that my fsh levels were high.he said we will be starting stim med immediatly af shows up.great news.he is changing the protocol and starting me from high doses down.he was very opstimistic that i'll respond better this time.he also encouraged me to do accupuncture.anybody done this before?? i called the accupuncturist he referred me to and they are trying to work with my insurrance.hope its covered

kcarino, neveah, you ladies need to be opstimistic.just relax and wait for you bfps.i think af symtoms (symptoms) are same with afs,so relax.

Navaeh, Are you guys having a donor???? That thought has never come up with us as we can get pefectly good swimmers from my hubby.. Well i haven't fallen pregnant but the fertilsed has been great!!! The cycle i'm doing now had 22 eggs and they called today to say 14 are great quality 6-8 cells!!!!! It was about 8 years then when he had the reversal. waste of money as the can get it straight out with mirco surgery..  Has your doc ever suggested that???? Due to that we have to do ICSI IVF just a little bit dearer...
Blank
318181_tn?1336447096
kmcarino: The first time I got pregnant, I can't really remember...but I also wasn't charting or keeping that much attention to dpo's and things like that back then. But the second time, I was charting and I started getting the cramps at around 10 dpo. Keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

Nevaeh: Don't give up just yet! It's still early and I think you still have a very good chance this month! SSBD!

Fifi: Yay! That's great that you get to start again right away!!! I've never done acupuncture, but I have considered it. I've read lots of success stories from women who have done acupuncture! That would be awesome if you could get your insurance to cover it! Keep us posted!!!

Ingy: Wow! 14 perfect 6- or 8-cells! That's so great! You might even be able to freeze some!!! I am so excited for you!!!

As for me, I'm just kinda sitting back this cycle and not really worrying about symptoms or anything...not that I have any anyway. My BBs are just a tiny bit tender, but not even as tender as they've been in BFN cycles, so I'm hoping that doesn't mean I'll be going into my RE's office in a week or so to discover that one or more of the eggs have turned into cysts again! Oh well...we'll see...

Anyway, best of luck to all of you! Here's the updated list...

-------------------

Beth - 19 dpo, Gonal-F, (did you test?)
kmcarino - 10 dpiui, Gonal-F, beta 11-26
Nevaeh - 7 dpiui, Follistim, beta 11-26
Heather - 7 dpo, Femara/Menopur (three mature follicles, but IUI cancelled)
Tracy - 4 dpt, Follistim/Cetrotide, one perfect 4-cell transferred
Ingy - CD17, IVF cycle, Gonal-F/Lucrin, 14 6-/8-cells, waiting for transfer

Heather, how are u? i just found out today that my ins will not cover for the accupuncture, but i found this accupuncturist from around me who has a special for $25 per visit.i need atleast 12 visits.not to bad...the only problem i'm having is with dh.he is complaining that the accupuncturist is not an Asian and thus will not be good in it.i'm trying to tell him that she is licensed but he's very skeptical.also, the the accupuncturist my re refered me to is suppose to fax the protocol i need to follow but she hasn't done that yet.i was hoping to start today, but no i doubt it.

i'll keep u guys posted.i go back to re for u/s on monday and possible start inj.still waiting for af;will come knocking anyday from today

Neaveah thats great news!!!! Yep you'll see those numbers going right up, i'm so happy for you...  Take it easy and positive thinking all the way....

Heather how are you going?

All well here, getting the muppets a bit, too much time on my hand. My thoughts are starting to wonder off to the negative side.. Oh just want this to work been so long in the making...
I wish for all of us the dream of being Mums to come true real soon..

well I just got news from my second beta. It's 12...so it's definitely positive and it's more than doubled so that's good news. I go in again on Tuesday for a third beta to make sure it's on track.

My DH and I have been having problems this past week...he's decided to stay at his mom's for the week so I of course had to call him at work this morning to let him know the news. He didn't seem too thrilled to be honest. He said...bad timing.

I feel crushed. We've worked so hard for this. I know we're going through a hard time but I thought he'd be more excited than what he is.....

Hopefully we work through this. We had a long talk this morning and I think we're both realizing that we have been stressed and taking it out on eachother. Hopefully by next week things will look up!

My sore bbs went away but I've been feeling sick and throwing up. I thought it was just from the nerves with the fighting with my DH but it must be from the BFP.
Blank

Yay! We got our first BFP on the thread!!! Congrats, Nevaeh!!!

Nevaeh: I am so excited about your BFP!!! That's such great news that it more than doubled in two days! I'm sorry to hear about you and your DH's problems, though. I know all of this TTC craziness can be a lot to handle sometimes. Hopefully the two of you will get everything sorted out soon, so you can both sit back and enjoy the pregnancy!

Ingy: Sending you some extra sticky baby dust! Don't let those negative thoughts ruin your day. Stay positive! There might just be a little bean or two getting nice and snug down there as we speak :-)

Fifi: $25 per session is a great rate! Did you ask her if she does acupuncture specifically for fertility? If so, I would go for it. If she's licensed, she should know what she's doing. Best of luck!!!

As for me, I'm not even testing this month, because of the whole cancelled IUI/low sperm count thing, so just kinda waiting for AF...she'll probably arrive on Sunday or Monday.

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Here's the list...

-------------------

Nevaeh - 13 dpiui, Follistim, BFP!!! Latest beta 12!

kmcarino - 16 dpiui, Gonal-F, beta was on Wednesday (anyone heard from her?)

kmcarino got AF on Tuesday. I think she cancelled the beta. I'm super sick already.....I haven't eaten in what seems like forever. I can hardly hold down crackers. I get motion sick very easy so I'm sure I'll have a rough few months. I really hope that this stress from DH isn't going to harm the baby. He's been talking the "D" word and I'm extremely freaking out. He still isn't home...ugh. Just when we finally get the news we were hoping for..it seems that the stress of it all has ruined it before it even started....I am hoping that's not the case. I know you ladies would understand....I'm sure you go through the same thing with your spouses...anyways..I am hoping to hear more good news from you ladies. It's been hard to be excited to be honest...

Ingy: Oh, no!!! Are you sure it's AF and not implantation bleeding or something? I'll be crossing my fingers for the latter!!! if you do need to have a lap, it's not that bad. I had one in August. It's outpatient surgery, and you'll be under general anesthesia, but you'll be back home again that same day. I had a sore tummy for a few days, and had some weird pain in my shoulders (from the gas they use to lift the stomach wall), but all in all, it really wasn't too bad. Keep us posted...

Fifi: Good luck with your appointment today! Also, let us know how things go with the new acupuncturist...

Nevaeh: How are you doing? Did you and your DH have a chance to sit down and talk everything out?

Tracy: Did you have your blood test yet? Hoping for some good news from you!

well ladies my BFP didn't last for long. My beta last Wed was 4. It jumped to 12 on Friday...today it was only 19...in 4 days it only went up 7....I started spotting brown last night too...I guess technically miscarrying my little bean...I would assume the stress of my life right now didn't help this..God figured if we couldn't keep a happy marriage that I couldn't keep my little bean.

I don't know what's going to happen now. If me and DH get back together we aren't going to be trying for a very long time...and if we don't...then I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens...

Good luck to all you ladies. I hope you all get what you deserve in life. I guess mine just wasn't meant to be.

Heather thats great news, you have started pills and injections.. Good Luck with everything, thinking of you...

Nevaeh I'm so sorry to hear about your pain... I hope everything works out for you the way you want.. Big Hugs....

As for me looking forward to my lap tomorrow hoping for answers or at least a piece of mind.. Then i will wait till next year to start on a frozen cycle maybe in Jan it depends on the money side of things.. Its crazy how much money we have all spent but it will be well worth it in the end.....

My cycle day is day 5...

Ingy: Yeah, I know...the costs of all of this can be pretty high, especially for IVF. It's great that you have frozen embryos, though. That will cut down on much of the EXPENSIVE medication and retrieval :-) Best of luck with your lap! Let us know how it goes!

kmcarino: We haven't heard from you in a while. I hope you're doing OK. Since I didn't have any info on you this month, I took you off the list...but we'd love to have you back, so if you post your info (cycle day and what you're doing this cycle) I'll definitely add you back on!!!

As for me, I'm excited about the new cycle, but also a bit nervous. What if we have a low sperm count for the IUI again. My RE seems to think it was just a random one-time thing, since the previous samples have been good. I REALLY hope he's right!

Good luck to everyone and SSBD!

Oh Fifi i'm so sorry to hear that news.. Why??? This isn't the first one cancelled is it??? Oh bugger.. I know there's nothing i can say to make you feel better but just to know i am thinking of you... Big Hugs

Heather how are you going??? How's the pills and shots going???

All well here with me. My lap went well on Friday, they found nothing. Well at least its a piece of mind..  My belly is still very bloated from the gas they said it usuallly takes a week to go down.. My shoulder has been fine though...  Going to do a detox on Boxing Day so i'm all fresh and ready for the new year...
Still hoping to do a FET in Jan...

OMG, Fifi! I am sooo sorry! That is just not fair... Maybe you could ask your RE about not using lupron. I've read that some women get "too supressed" on lupron. Don't really know too much about it...but it might be worth bringing it up with your doctor. I'm also sending you a BIG hug!

Ingy: Glad to hear you've (more or less) recovered from the lap! The same thing happened to me when I had my lap back in August...they didn't find anything. It would almost have been easier if they they DID find something wrong, so it could be corrected. BUT, the good news is that we're both at least able to rule that out! Can't wait to hear about your FET BFP in January!!!

I'm done with my meds and just waiting for my CD12 sonogram on Friday. Hopefully everything will work out this month and my DH's sample will be back to normal for the IUI!

Take care girls, and keep me posted!
