Secondary infertility.

New here lol. I'm 42 years old and have been TTC for the past 3 years. Exploring IVF options but was told that I had better luck in hitting the lottery. Im taking DHEA 3x a day, Vitex 2x a day and drinking lots of natural teas like Rasberry, Fertilitea and liver detox. My blood work shows an FSH of 46.5. I have a thyroid problem called (hoshimotos disease) my level on that is 3.2. My AMH is 0.16. I'm all messed up. Has anyone tried Biodentical Hormone? I have an appointment on Monday March 21 and was wondering if anyone else here had any luck with this type of treatment.

Hello ladies, dropping by for an update. I got a call from the nurse who told me my FSH form April 4, 2011 went down to 6.0... Well I just can't believe it. I am so excited. I had three follicles last week. The doctor told me I was doing well. That alone meant a lot to me. So far no IVF meds just the DHEA. However my AMH is still 0.16.. I'm researching this. But I guess I still have a lil something in me. Lol. Still reading posts and praying for all of us.
DHEA 3x a day
Fertility Tea 3x a day
Vitamin D 1 xa day
Prenatal 1x a day
Thyroid 1x a day
Fish pills w omega 2x a day.
What grass shot 1x a day
One 8 lunch of vegetable juice. Organic and from my juicer. ( 1 carrot, 1 celery, 1 cucumber with one scoop of energizer buster prescribed by my biodental Dr)..
*my infertility CD one time a day.

From my heart to yours.

You should read the book Inconceivable: A womens Triumph over Despair and Statistics by Julia Indichova. She was also strugging from secondary infertility due to high FSH. I think hers was in the 40's too. She changed her lifestyle, eating, started exercising etc etc. Finally got her FSH down to 20 i believe and surprisingly conceived on her own and gave birth to a healthy baby.

as for your Hashimoto's, this also can cause infertility. typically your TSH should be in the 1-2 range for conception. Are you on medication for this? Medication, and proper eating can keep this and the antibodies in check. Gluten Free diets help tremendously.  Good luck!!!

Last couple of months AF was coming down so brown that it made me nervous.. A friend suggested pure parsley tea. I made it and drank it on Thursday (4)) days before AF was due) I was afraid that my menstral was going to be another 30 days late and face the fact that premenapause was around the corner..well I started 3x cups a day and on Saturday it was here. I won't lie I cried, it was so pink. I haven't seen it like that since last summer. I believe the change in eating habitts is totally working. I had a sonogram this past Wends. To check on a possible Fibroid on my right ovary, it turned out that I have none Yay. She mentioned that the left ovary had lots of lil eggs and that everything seems fine. How can she see lil eggs? and the IVF doctor says I have none..still confused!

they measured E2 level (not sure if this is estradiol or another estrogen) during my IVF protocol and it was 300 on day 11 so they thought the follicle must be empty since level is too low and they had measured it 3days b4 that and it was 170 or so......as for my amh level:my ob said that it could vary sometimes and i read in other boards some women saying that amh level improved with certain factors.......its just that my RE told me its not good to take so much hormones at my age so he kind of scared me but i see alot of women here taking alot and everything is fine so definitely i should research more.....
thanks alot......any idea about DHEA???

Your FSH is normal--do you know what your estrodial is?
If I were you, I would do some research on SART and find the best clinic in your area for your age group (or in another state, if you are willing to travel). There are quite a few different ivf protocols out there so just because one failed doesn't mean much.
My ob had three ivfs (her third was successful) and on her first two she only had like 6 follicles and some were empty. Her RE changed protocols and she had 20 eggs the next time around. And got pregnant.
So, do a little research and don't give up.
As for your AMH, it's odd that it was low and then went up. I thought it could only go down...what did your dr say about that?

Dear all,

I am new here but i seem to have the same problem as all of u...i am turning 40years end of this year, have one 4.5years old son whose asking me everyday for a brother and sister and it tears me to pieces......i really hope i can give him....i have been trying for the past 3years on and off clomid cycles, tried IUI once and then last november did amh and it was a shockingly low o.21 then 2months later was 0.83 and FSH was 5.4 which is relatively ok so my RE decided to give me a chance of IVF....i took intensive short course of merional SC injections, i only grew 1follicle which was a decent size but my estradiol level was still not high enough so my doctor cancelled my IVF and i did IUI 2weeks ago and just got my period yesterday so means all failed....i feel so down and helpless.....i bought DHEA myself but didnt take it...i asked my doctor and he doesnt know of it.......not sure whats the next step now......i have gained so much weight the last 3years cos of alot of bad phases i had in my life and last summer i broke my leg so stayed alot without much motion....i know i need to improve my diet and exercise more.......any tips or advice are much needed and appreciated.....
thx

Don't give up!!! Doctors can't know everything. I know how frustrating it is. Try taking the meds for awhile and see what happens. I'm so sorry this is happening to you.

Hi sweety, well I went to my biodentical hollistic appt. It went well. She ran some test and looked over my thyroid numbers. Dr. Said that for conceiving my thyroid should be under 2. I was told to take fish oil pills 2x a day. Prenatal 1 x a day. DHEA 3x a day Vitex 2x a day. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.. wheatgrass 2x a day 2 ounces...Then I was told that I should try and go for an egg donor because I no longer have eggs...I told her that I didn't want to give up so soon and that's when she prescribed all of the above. I am so crushed. DH says that they r wrong. He's better than me. Oh I forgot baton tell u that I'm also taking fertilitea 3x a day, Rosberry tea 2x a day..I find myself peeing so much. It just feels like there's not enough hours in the day to do all these things.

I am doing weekly acupuncture and taking wheat grass. I also take vitamin E, vitamin D, baby aspirin, B 12 and B 50.  I haven't done my fsh in a long time, so I don't know if all of this is working, but every time I have a follicle check up, I have a good amount.  Now just praying one will take!

Yes, keep us posted on what you do on Monday!

Just wanted to tell you both that when I took DHEA it doubled my already high FSH, which was 18-20 before DHEA.  I took it for 3 months under dr care to see what would happen and I was so upset when I got my FSH new results.  I know many women on hear swear by it, but when my fsh came back doubled, my dr told me to drop it immediately!  I was only taking 25 mg. of DHEA.
I am also taking thyroid meds, my thyroid level came back as 3.76 last August, recently on 25 mg of meds it is down to .92.  You really want your tsh around 1 for ttc, so you should talk to your dr about changing your meds.
I will be 42 in June and went off birth control at 38, but really started watching cycles at 39.
Sending baby dust,
Risa

Hello,
I don't' have any answers, I just wanted you to know you are not alone. I will be 42 in a month and have a DD who is 9 from my first marriage. I've been married for nearly 2 years to a wonderful man and we have been trying since then to conceive with 1 miscarriage. In Nov. I had my FSH tested and it was 15. Earlier this year I had my AMH tested and it was also .16. I have Hoshimotos also but it is regulated to normal range with meds. I have been told that we have a 5% chance with my eggs with IUI or IVF but we are going to try anyway for an IUI next month. Don't give up hope. Women have proven doctors wrong before.
I also take DHEA several supplements and Raspberry leaf tea as well as acupuncture and yoga. So far nothing but my doctor did say that 20-30% of my eggs were good so there is always hope. It only takes 1 good egg. Keep yourself healthy and keep trying and I believe that there is still hope for us both. Good luck to you and take care. SSBD!!
