you know, he has been on the testosterone so long (3yrs), I honestly can't remember what his levels were at. I honestly can't even tell you what they are now. I can tell you that in the fertility world though, testosterone replacement therapy can be a bad thing. It lowers sperm counts. My husbands went from 28mil to around 18mil. The RE's hate to see the use of test. but, with us, we are doing IVF w/ICSI (donor eggs) so we only need as many sperm(s) as there are eggs.
What did the doctor tell you is considered low for testosterone levels? or I guess what is normal
My husband and I are close friends with a couple that had the same issue... they now have 2 children through IVF. I do not know how painful the extraction of the sperm is though.
The low testosterone is another issue in itself. My husband has low testosterone, and takes bi-weekly injections of testosterone.
I have a friend whose husband also had no sperm in his ejaculate so they had to do surgery to get the sperm out. She has had two pregnancies--and now has three little girls (one set of twins)
Thanks for the feedback. That is wonderful your friends conceived on the first IVF. Not many people can say they did on their first. That is horrible he had to be out of work for 10 days due to extraction. It is bad enough everything us women have to go through to have a baby let alone the men having to suffer physically as well.
I had a friends husband who had no sperm. I am not sure what his levels were or what exact situation was. I can tell you that he had to have the sperm surgically removed. He was out of work for 10 days. (very painful) In any event she did just give birth to her first child in August. She conceived on her first IVF.
Good Luck to you!!!
